Tatting for Sachets

This is a pattern of Figura 37 from the Italian magazine Il Lavoro Chiaccherino 9 on page 68. It is tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 Purple Iris Light (#646).

I hope the rippling of this piece is to cater for the slight bulge of potpourri sachet which is to be sewn below.

Stawasz Doily III Motif

This is just one motif of this Stawasz table mat on Page 27 of his Tatted Treasures book. I am not tatting the mat but I love the design it made with this motif.

The top is tatted in Altin Basak SIze 50 thread in Col. #367. I miscounted the number of picots in some rings and was not happy with the graduated picots in the chain, so I decided to start again.

The bottom is tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 Mocha Brown Light (#690). Thinking that this thread would form sturdier picots but I think a Size 20 thread would be better for this pattern. Jan Stawasz used a Size 10.

Kurbatskaya Challenge - WIP 4

This round will take some time to complete. This is how far I have tatted for now. Pressing on. I hope it will be done by next week.

Smokey's

Someone has made this his sanctuary. There are two other dogs in the house and Smokey has found a new place to get some peace and quiet.

Stawasz Doily XVII Completed

This is complete. Tatted in Altin Basak Size 50 in Colour #372.

The surrounding rings seemed pulled around the motif but perfect around the square of rings. Hope you know what I am refering to. Sounds strange.

The edging is quite pretty and you could use that for a hankie too.

Kajang Satay

Yes, we were at Haji Samuri's in Kajang for an early lunch of satay.

Marinated chicken, beef and mutton pieces are skewered and barbecued on a charcoal flame. Served with a spicy peanut sauce, ketupat (steamed rice in coconut leaves) and cucumber slices.

Stawasz Mirror Motif

I added some Delica beads in this one. Tatted in Flora Size 20 in Burgundy (#222). Another motif I thought would fit the pouches I am making for a friend. I am showing him a few tatted motifs so he can make a choice for the pouch.

This pattern is found on page 82 of Tatted Treasures by Jan Stawasz. He used the motif to decorate the back of a hand mirror.

Kurbatskaya Challenge - WIP 3

This photo shows a little rippling even after blocking. Added another 3 rounds after the last photo.

I put it in between the book overnight and it could lay flat after that. Sorry, no photo of that. It is still in between the pages waiting for me to add the next row which is quite hefty to tat. Wish us both Fox and I luck for the next round.

Stawasz Doily XVII WIP

I had lots of fun tatting the square of rings. Done in split rings, start from the middle. I still have 2 rounds to go before ending this little square doily. Found in Jan Stawasz 'Tatted Treasures' on page 89.
Yes, it isn't as large as that in the book but I just wanted to try the pattern and not to tat a table mat.

Stawasz Doily XIV

This pattern is one by Jan Stawasz in his 2nd book 'Tatted Treasures' on page 76. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 #175 Scottish Thistle and #646 Purple Iris Lt. I blocked it but perhaps it needs an iron through. I have a feeling it would look better in a thicker thread as in the book.

Kurbatskaya Challenge - WIP 2

Is the photo out of focus? I did use the auto focus function on the camera . . . or is it just my eyes. I think my hands shook.

Should have gotten more tatting done in Week 2 on this. While tatting the rings, it seemed that it was going to be a little tight but after blocking, it was fine.

The uneven split rings in this round made a straight edge.
Interesting!
This time I did not forget the Ch 2 + 2 in between the SRs as I learnt from my mistake from this one

Fox and I are tatting this together. It isn't a breeze. I just wished I had chosen a different thread to do this in, perhaps something larger than Size 50.

Toledo Spain

Toledo is located in central Spain about 70 km from Madrid. A UNESCO world heritage centre.
The tour took us to a scenic spot for photographs.
View of the Alcantara bridge over the river Tagus.
The bridge was built by the Romans.

Tagus river surrounds Toledo on three sides due to how the river bends.
The Tagus river is the longest on the Iberian Peninsula and
runs across Spain and Portugal
into the Atlantic Ocean.
Remember the photo of the same river in Lisbon.
Thankful for the escalator that brought us up to the city from the bus park

View of the surroundings near the top of the escalator

Toledo Congress Centre - love the facade

View of Tagus River from the top of escalator

Damascene artisan at work - inlaying gold and silver into metal.
Toledo is also famous for the production of bladed weapons.

Tokyo x4

I think Tokyo by Iris Niebach in a solid colour thread is much prettier. Link here to compare. After completing four joined motifs, a very pretty design emerged. Tatted in Altin Basak Size 50 thread in periwinkle (#324).

Fallen

There were 3 of these coral trees. One was chopped down last month and last weekend the remaining two went down.
Was it diseased or dying? It just looked overgrown with dragon scale fern Pyrrosia piloselloides on its trunk.

Gold Wings

This looks like angel wings but it is actually part of a motif. I wanted to embellish a bag and thought this shape would be suitable. The photo does not show the lustre of this rayon thread by Manuela Elfi Nr.5 thread.

The pattern is from this magazine. Some patterns are diagrammed, some are not and I do not read Italian. But it is still interesting to browse through.
