TF #14

I started this pattern on page 90 of Tatted Fashion but I tatted one less picot on the outer rings and had to improvise. I found the pattern on page 64 fitted my mistake and it ended up as this. Tatted in Lizbeth 20 Gold Col 611.

New Handbag?

Is Tsuru checking out my new handbag?

No, just mooncakes in a beautiful packaging from
Shangri-La Hotel.
White lotus paste with single yolk mooncakes which
were very nice.
We had them last night with Chinese tea.
Thank you D.

Mooncake Festival

Today is the day of the mid autumn festival. I wonder if we will see the full moon tonight. Children will light their lanterns tonight.

I have not seen this type of mooncake for sometime now.
It is very traditional and
I remember eating them long time ago.

This is the 5 seeds mooncake which
I wanted to try from Poh Guan in Chinatown.
Better than Season but
I still prefer Tai Chong Kok's.

Merlion Lantern

A large Merlion lantern has been put up in Chinatown this mooncake festival. I have not seen it at night when it is lighted up but if I do, you will see it here too.

Hoya multiflora Shooting Star

A newly acquired plant to add to my garden. Does the flower look like a shooting star? It looks quite unusual. I hope it does well in my little balcony garden.

TF #54B

This is actually part of a larger pattern made up of 4 repeating motifs found on page 93 of Tatted Fashion by Teiko Fujito. Tatted using Tatililious' HDT Mindanao Gum Size 40.

Lovely autumn colours! Reminds me of Nikko, Japan.

Parking Lots Availability

It was Sunday noon and this would be highly unusual.

But it was after all on a F1 race day so roads leading to those shopping centres were closed as part of the race circuit.

Tuesday 22 September 2015

TF #54A

This is a motif which is part or a larger pattern in Teiko Fujito's Tatted Fashion book. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 Col.137 Berry Burst. I'm not in the mood to start a large pattern so I may not continue with this pattern.

Bon Jovi.

TF #25

I was inspired by Fox and how she tatted with white and coloured threads. This is a pattern from Teiko Fujito's book Tatted Fashion on page 68. I used the Daiso Size 40 threads in apple green and white. These colours always remind me of the pristine snowdrops (which I have yet to see and touch). Will someone send me a bunch next spring?

Golden Penda / Myrtle

Isn't this pretty?
Popular visiting ground of bees, butterflies and birds.
A native of Australia but widely planted along roads and expressways in Singapore.

TF #19

I like how simple and clean this looks. Pattern is found in Teiko Fujito's Tatted Fashion book on page 66. I know this is one of Margaret's favourite Lizbeth colours, Tropical Punch Col. 132 in Size 20. I wonder if she's back from her vacation. I promised to tat along with her with a pattern of her choosing.

SG 50

In almost every housing estate, there is a selected public housing block that is decorated this way. We had brunch at Whampoa and this colourful block faced the hawker centre there. All part of the SG 50 celebrations.

TF #2

I was bored with Lizbeth thread colours which I had out of storage and went looking for Tatililious' HDTs - size 20 Green Messy Jessy and Key Lime Raspberry Parfait. The pattern is one from Teiko Fujito on page 4 of her 'Tatted Fashion' book.

This was interesting as I tatted the last round first as an edging. I wanted to line a coaster on the inner edge. As I finished the square, it was a little flimsy in keeping its shape, so I decided to tat the square in the centre.

Nutty Mooncakes

I always get Tai Chong Kok's mooncakes from Chinatown. Especially the mixed nuts mooncake. But recently I had a chance to try the mixed nuts mooncake from Season in Johor Bahru. I tested both mooncakes and decided I still preferred the Tai Chong Kok's mooncake. It is the flavours of the sticky filling that holds the nuts together. I like the limau purut (Kaffir Lime) leaves and the hint of lard in it. This year, the mid autumn festival falls on 27 September 2015. Must get the snowskin mooncakes soon.

Happy Shuttles

Look what came in the post last week. Thank you so much C. I wanted to differentiate them from my other SewMate shuttles so I added these nail decals.

Thursday 10 September 2015

TF #24

I am not sure what I was thinking when I chose the three thread colours. Pattern is from Teiko Fujito on page 25. I used Altin Basak Size 50 in Col. 372, 302 and 359. Should have chosen bright colours for this one.

Marina Bay Views

This panoramic view is from the new Jubilee Bridge.

View of the Jubilee Bridge on the right.

I know its dark but can you make out the helix bridge, the flyer, the art and science museum, marina bay sands, the financial district buildings and the merlion.

TF #23

Yes, I am still tatting patterns from Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito. This one is from page 25. Done in Lizbeth Size 20 in Col. 670 Victorian Red and Col. 115 Springtime. Tatted in one round using 2 shuttles. It took some time but it is pretty.

My New Red Box

In it or on it?
Does it matter?
It's mine.

Saturday 5 September 2015

TF #45

Can you see that the centre is TF #44 (previous post). Add another 2 rounds to it and it becomes TF #45. Makes an unusual triangular motif. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 Col. 158 Niagara Falls.

A Walk Down Singapore River

Clarke Quay on the left lined with restaurants and bars and tall buildings of the central business district in the background.

Further down the river is the Fullerton Hotel. Cavenagh bridge is the only and oldest suspension bridge in Singapore. Brightly lit up for an evening stroll, now enjoyed by pedestrians only.

A bronze sculpture 'First Generation' in front of Fullerton Hotel showing kids enjoying the river in the past.

Thursday 3 September 2015

TF #44

I did not tat onion rings so it does not resemble the photo in the book by Teiko Fujito on page 42. Nevertheless, I like this version too. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 Col. 168 Latte Foam.

Wednesday 2 September 2015

Fussy Tsuru

The shoe box burst open so we got her a bigger box. Just like her fussy behaviour about her food, the box was coincidently from the canned food. She loves her box so much that she has begun sinking her teeth in it. The canned food, . . . . not so much, she turns up her nose on it.

TF #55

The double picots in this pattern proved an interesting feature. The second thread gap after the ring, needs to be longer than the first to accommodate the inner picot. The top is tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 Col. 137 Berry Burst and the bottom is tatted in Lizbeth Size 20 Col. 132 Tropical Punch. Pattern is from the Tatting Artistry of Teiko Fujito on page 74. The double picots in this photo were not very obvious. You might have to click on the photo enlarge it.
