Tatted Doily No. 1510-51

This was suppose to lie flat but I think the chains are too long so this is cupping so much that it may be best used as a hair bun snood. I could not block it properly but managed to drape it over something domed and allowed it to dry. The pattern is extracted from Home Needlework Magazine (Oct 1915). The thread is a HDT called Punk Princess by Tat-ilicious. This is how it should look.

  1. Maybe disappointing as a doily, but what an elegant snood!

  3. Oh my! Well, it will make a super lovely hair bun snood. Granted, I've never heard of a snood before. :o)

  4. I like it! But then, I'm a pink person :)
I think I am drawn to the outside edge, how the points alternate between busy and plainer.
Wonderful work. Let us know if you wear it.

  5. That is an odd pattern to my eye. I can’t put my finger on what it is I am noticing, but something makes my eyeballs twirl around...

  6. I love how your color choice took a pattern that didn't catch my eye and made it into one I'd like to try! Lovely tatting but that cupping would irritate me. I love the idea of a snood though, you are so clever!

  7. That would look very nice as a snood. The difference in the picture of the pattern and your doily is interesting.

  8. Looking at the pattern again, the chains in the photo looks like 1ds between picots but the written pattern says 2ds between picots. So if you are going to try this, use 1ds between picots. I liked how the design looked in the pattern but I did not enjoy tatting this.

  9. ...what a pretty haiband...intersting the difference in outcoming of the long chains... the only idea I have is, that they chosed very thin thread, so it comes out very close..I had the same expereince with the elegant heart of Mark Mayers(see my blog) it comes closer together with therad size less than #80...
