If you love tatted lace, jewellery, plants and anything handcrafted, come back often. I will regularly post items that are made by me, plants that I grow and interesting things that I photograph.

Anna's Doily
Frivole and Fox tatted this pattern by Karla Barraza which is quite amazing. Karla designed a beautiful pattern. Round 4 was particularly interesting to tat.
Mine is tatted in Lizbeth Size 20 Raspberry Pink Lt (#623). It measures about 8 inches across. I found two mistakes while blocking.

Light Globules
It is nice to dine out and be served food that you did not have to prepare. It was happy hour and I was admiring these 'globules' of light while dusk sets outside.

Workbasket Doily WIP 2
Rounds 2 & 3 are complete. Since they are simple ring and chain, I decided to use multicoloured for Round 2 and black for Round 3. What will Round 4 be tatted in? All threads are Size 40.

Workbasket Doily WIP 1
I am starting a new doily called 'Snowflake in a Circle Doily' from the Workbasket May 1956 issue which Sheila sent me. Since Fox inspired me to used different colours in one doily with her Honey Napkin, I am starting row 1 with black. Did you notice the shape of the rings? It looks like the shape of a butternut squash. This is created with two dimples instead of one dimple as done in a dimpled ring. I guess this is the snowflake.

The Workbasket from Sheila
Sheila H from Canada sent me this Workbasket issue a few weeks ago. Thank you so much Sheila.
In it, is a tatted doily pattern. Sheila tats but she found this while clearing some things and thought I would find it interesting. Yes, I did. Besides the one tatting pattern, there are crochet patterns, one knitting pattern, articles, tips and recipes.
It was also full of ads from 1956 and I found a few very intriguing e.g. tiny flower lanterns (3 inches) to brighten up your flower arrangement or the greeting card vases or the air cap which can be attached to your hair dryer and dry hair in minutes.

Francesca
While tatting this pattern I had this strange feeling the tatting was all wrong. I had to unpick several times because of this. It was not easy during the first few repeats but after that, it gets more manageable.
This is Francesca from Iris Niebach's book Tatted Doilies. I spotted a few mistakes in my tatting but I'll let it go. Tatted in Coats Mercer Size 20 threads in Ecru (#625), it needed about 34m per shuttle and the doily measures about 9 inches across. I must try Amanda next.

Homemade Cake for Tea
This is a yuzu (instead of lemon) poppy seed cake with butter (real butter) icing. This type of cake with butter icing brings back memories of birthday cakes from the past. Icing was a treat and only on birthdays. I like the crunch of the poppy seeds when you bite into them. I enjoyed them with a cup of Earl Grey. Yummy!! My sweet temptation for today.

Happy Hearts
I saw the Happy Hearts that Michelle tatted and wanted to try. The pattern is by Frivole. I thought I knew how to do Catherine Wheel joins but I was wrong. What I thought I knew, tatted on the right in Madder Tatter (HDT by Tat-ilicious) was not right. I finally watched Marilee's video and got it (left). Thank you all.

Corner Lace A
This pattern is from Susanne Rolf on page 16 of her book Mustersammlung. Tatted in Manuela Size 20. This pattern looked quite challenging. Boy, was I wrong! It was easy. I wonder how it would look without the graduated picots. Perhaps I will try and see . . . . . .

Tatted Doily No. 1510-51
This was suppose to lie flat but I think the chains are too long so this is cupping so much that it may be best used as a hair bun snood. I could not block it properly but managed to drape it over something domed and allowed it to dry. The pattern is extracted from Home Needlework Magazine (Oct 1915). The thread is a HDT called Punk Princess by Tat-ilicious. This is how it should look.

Mom's Oxalis
This is from mom's garden. These Oxalis have larger leaves and white flowers. I have yet to take a photo of the Oxalis which is considered a weed here.

Ellipse Completed
Ellipse is a pattern by Janet Carroll. I used Venus Size 40 and it ended up measuring 17 x 14 inches. My chains seem longer than the photo in the book. AAA saw it when I was blocking it and asked if it was a fish. He seems to think I only tat animals. What was I going to do with it? Shall we frame it? I was thinking of putting it as a centrepiece on a plain table cloth but framing it is another way to go. I have more walls than tables.
I found two mistakes in the tatting. Can't bear to see if there were more. But I do like the shape of this. What's next?

Tsuru's New Basket
I picked this basket up from the bin. Someone who did not have a use for it, threw it away. It is the perfect size for Tsuru. Placed it on the sitting room floor and she got right in. Her new day bed.
And . . . Annie sent me this link. Check it out - a whole collection named Tsuru.
