Angeline's Travelling Book Adventure - Coaster

This pattern is called Tight Coaster with solid chain edge (pp 151). I tatted this in a golden yellow Venus Size 40 thread (#525). Simple to tat but I had to struggle with closing the small rings due to the extra spirally Venus threads. Also this pattern was done in 4 rounds but I like how it turned out. Simple but pretty with tiny scallop edges.

  1. It's very pretty! I like this design with the 2nd last row reflecting the scallop shape.

  2. You've done a beautiful job with this coaster. It is delightful and feminine.

Climbing out from round one to round two is easily accomplished with a split ring, but the next climb-out would require a split chain. A final split ring climb to the final rounds. So it could be done all in one pass, if you don't mind that pesky split chain.

    Well done!!!

  3. There seem to be some great patterns from Angeline and you're doing them justice. It'll be fun to get my turn with her book and you're giving me a peek now. Thank you, Karen in OR

  5. After seeing all the pieces you have tatted, I wish I had done more than just read Angeline's book! This motif is stunning!

  6. I'm so glad you're getting an opportunity to review Angeline's book and are even tatting some of the motifs and sharing them with us.

It's always amazing to see how the color and size of thread can totally change the look of a motif. I hardly recognized this one from the book, and now I'd like to try it!

Angeline did so much work writing this book (using a typewriter!) and putting it together (literally hand-stitching and binding it!), not to mention all the tatting she did over the years, that it boggles the mind.

    Suztats, God's Kid and Anika,
I am so glad you liked this pattern too. It did turn out prettier than expected.

Isdihara, Thank you for your advice. I do hate the pesky split chain too.

Karen, I hope you have as much fun as I did.

Diane, I love tatting from this book. Will show more in future posts.

    Kathy,
It is a precious book and yes Angeline did put a lot of effort into this book.

    Gina,
Thanks for the e-mail comment. I know Blogger has been having some problems.
