Fuchsia Bright & Beautiful

This was grown in the Flower Dome.
Ambient temperatures there around 25 degrees C.
Too hot outside to grow this.
So pretty.
Must try this colour combination in tatting.

Wiosna 2017 WIP 1

I just had to join in Renulek's Wiosna 2017.
I saw Fox's and Jane's and just could not resist.
The last time I joined and tatted along was the Wiosna 2015.
Thank you Renulek for the pattern.

Rounds 1-3 tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 in Col. 633 Purple Dark.
Join in, won't you?

Han's Cafe Dark Cherry Pie

Love this!
It got a little burnt on one side in my oven toaster
but still delicious.

I want more!

Cute Christmas Wreath (HMK 8)

The ending was a little tricky. I am sure I made a mistake at the end with the top motif. Just that it is not obvious. I do like the intertwined long picots.

It was tat, unpick, tat, unpick, tat unpick, tat! The second motif with beads showed the mistake at the ends so I had to tat and re-tat several times. I wanted to figure it out myself although you could follow the video with the QR code in the Ha Mi-Kyoung book.

Top is tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 Col. 185 Artic Waters.  Love this colourway. Bottom is tatted with Miyuki Delica beads DB622.

Sweet Candy (HMK 7)

How many times can you repeat a mistake?
More than once . . .  as once was not enough to teach me a lesson. The last two rounds should be tatted simultaneously so that the chains can intertwine.

Anyway my mistake gave me a chance to whip out my Celtic shuttles. I just wish these Celtic shuttles were more like the normal shuttles as the threads kept unravelling when I dropped the shuttle.

Yes, it was definitely fiddly but it was an interesting tat.  In this photo, the colours in the left motif looks more soothing while the right looks more striking.

Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 in various colours. Left - Col. 156 Juicy Watermelon, Col. 677 Lime Green Medium, Col. 164 Blue River Glades and Col. 708 River Blue Medium.

Right - Col. 147 Red Burst, Col. 714 Seacrest Green, Col. 180 Honey Drizzle and Col. 161 Sea Island Citrus.

Furry Caterpillar?

It is a climber Combretum comosum
You can see the flower buds and some opened flowers
in the right spray.
Birds love to feed on its nectar.

Sweet Candy WIP 2

It has split into two from the previous post as I made a mistake in not joining Round 2 to Round 1. Three more rounds to tat for each. Blocking is needed after each round. Hopefully the different colour threads will help you see the separate rounds.

Water Lily Pond

I was surprised to see this outside The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. It was a most pleasant find. It was a hot afternoon but the ocean breeze made it a little more comfortable. Such a pretty sight. It is located below the ArtScience Museum. Can you spot the Merlion?

I remember a water lily pond just beside the Kandang Kerbau Hospital. I wonder if it is still there.

Candy Tree

This is not your typical tree you find along Singapore roads but in a mall just outside Universal Studios on Resort World Sentosa. If only candy grew on trees, you could have your pick everyday. I would prefer a tree that grew beautiful delicious cakes.

Sweet Candy WIP

I have once again gotten frustrated with onion rings.
My round 2 in solid green had no onion rings. I have always disliked how my onion rings looked.

I tatted Round 1 & 2 of this Ha Mi-Kyoung (HMK) pattern thinking it was not joined in anyway only to find that I was wrong!

The symbol = in the diagram is for joining picots. As you can see, I learnt it the hard way.
Also this symbol * in red indicates SCMR.

HMK Tatting Book

Front cover

This is the book I have been tatting from.
You asked. I obliged.
The author is Ha Mi-Kyoung.
You can get it from Handy Hands.
It is in Korean but the diagrams are self explanatory with QR codes which you can scan for videos (in Korean).

One of the Pleasures (HMK 6)

This one was fun to tat.
First HMK pattern, I did not have trouble with.
Found on page 57 of the book
(ISBN 978-89-98432-45-4-13590).
It is also featured on the front cover of the book

There is a second variation to this pattern.
I might try that later.
This is tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 in
River Blue Medium Col. 708.
It measures about 2.75 inches across.

Happy 55th AAA

A mango cake for AAA which was eaten a week earlier.
Who can resist cake?

What happens when you turn 55?

In Singapore it means you can withdraw your CPF savings after you leave a designated amount for retirement.

It also means you need to get a new identity card made with a recent photo. How different we must look when the ID card was issued.

To some organizations, you are a senior citizen but to some others, not until you turn 60.

With some employers, you have to retire.
With others, you can work till you are 67.

What is in a number?
Isn't it just how old you feel?
On some days you feel 20, on other days 120.
Yet on many occasions, you wish you were 35 again.

Whatever the age, as long as you are healthy and happy.

Rozallin (HMK 5)

This one looks different from the book because of how I used the two colours. I think the one in the book looks much prettier.

This is tatted in Lizbeth Size 20 Harvest Orange Medium Col. 694 and Lizbeth Twirlz Midnight Mist Col. 407. Another pattern with Josephine knots.

Love This Chair

Saw this in a store last weekend.
It was not for sale, but
where do I get one?

Spring Tree (HMK 4)

I used the new Victor threads. Although it is listed as Size 40, it felt more like a Size 20 to me. It is not as smooth as other threads I have used but it was a nice alternative.

This pattern is lovely but I am biased towards Josephine knots. Tatted in two rounds using two shuttles. It would look even more delicate in a smaller thread.

Note the Josephine knot in between two rings in the outermost round. Also the mirror image of the 3 rings. I thought those were nice design elements.

Garden Keepers

My garden keeper has new companions.
The little panda dances and the black cat waves.

Shiny Black Coat

Look at those green eyes. This cat has a shiny coat of fur and looks so handsome. You may have noticed its clipped right ear. Yes, it is a stray cat but it has been fed well. While we were there, we saw how annoyed it looked when a toddler was trying to play with it. Then a kind lady fed it with a whole can of cat food. It ate it up in a flash. That can would have lasted Tsuru 4 meals. It has a healthy appetite and I wondered if the kind lady fed it every day?

Victor Threads

I found these threads in a local craft shop. They only offered these two colours so I bought one ball each to try. I will use it in the next tatting motif. Yes, it will be from the new tatting pattern book. Sometimes you need something new to inspire new tatting projects.

Hanging Garden (HMK 3)

Thank you for your comments in the previous post on the use of the Kelly Green. This is how it turned out. I had the same exact thoughts. It is amazing that we predicted this.

I was not too happy with the blocking. This is a pattern from my newest tatting book by Ha Mi-Kyoung.
