Seville Cathedral II

The cathedral is built on site of the Almohad mosque which was destroyed by an earthquake in 1356. What remained of the mosque and left incorporated into the Cathedral was the minaret - Giralda and the courtyard of orange trees.

  1. Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures.

  2. Even the irrigation system is beautiful!

  3. Interesting and rather sad that there is no foliage showing in the top view of Seville - looks all buildings... pretty but no green spaces...

  4. I wonder why they didn't rebuild the mosque? - I am going to read more about this very interesting history. Wonderful photos.
