Anne Orr's Edging #1

It was suppose to be an edging but I made the thread space between the rings two short and it started to curve so I ended after 5 repeats.

Fish for Lunch

This is my favourite fish.

I grew up eating this and I have not eaten it in years.

Never seen it sold here.

We call it 'cheah hu' although I do not know its proper name.

Found a place which sells this in Johor Bahru.

This was the other dish we ate.

A seafood soup with rice vermicelli, clams, prawns, fish, squid, meat & fish balls, and vegetables.

Delicious!

Frangipanni

These flowers were picked and made into garlands and funeral wreaths. Not anymore.

As a child, I remember that we were forbidden to pick these flowers. They were usually planted in cemeteries.

It is pretty planted by the roadsides now.

A Canadian friend once told me how beautiful it was when he saw them at Raffles Hotel.

It was his first visit to Singapore.

I gave this Anne Orr pattern another go.

Paid more attention to blocking.

Used a Venus Size 40 Col. 541 threads.

Sandy's Snowflake

This is the free pattern for September 2017 from Handy Hands. Tatted in Venus Size 40 threads in Col. 486. This snowflake measures about 1.75 inches.

Street Lights Little India

Can you tell the theme for this year's street decorations?

Crossing this busy road at the pedestrian crossing

and quickly taking a photo before the lights start to blink

and turn red.

All ready for the festival of lights and good reigning over evil.

It is done.

Very colourful.

It did not turn out as I imagined but it is definitely different.

I may tat it again in one colour and in size 40.

This was tatted in Lizbeth Size 20 in 3 colours: Azalea Medium, Coral Orange Medium and Rainbow Splash (#620, #702, #184).

This one turned out pretty.

Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 in Col. 708 River Blue Medium.

The four corner trefoil were tatted separately.

Elephants in Little India

There seems to be a number of elephants in Little India.

They are part of the street decorations for Deepavalli this year.

I could not resist taking a photo.

I love how the dark green leaf makes a contrasting background for the white and pink orchids.

Snowskin Mooncake

I remember mooncakes when they were $4 each.

These days it is $10 or more each.

But you get to enjoy it once a year only.

The rainbow colours are more subdued now since adding more orange. I think it will morph into something different with the last two rounds.
