Torch Ginger

I was watching a Japanese cooking show and it was describing myoga (Japanese ginger flower) which was chopped finely and added as garnishing in some dishes.
It reminded me of our local torch ginger which is similarly used in dishes.
The variety that is used in cooking has a light pink flower unlike the photo above.
The flowers buds are harvested and used in cooking.
But it does makes a nice display for a flower arrangement too.
Above is a variety of the torch ginger which I have not seen before but the colour is just stunning.

  1. I am not one for using ginger in cooking, but the flower of the touch ginger is lovely and would be lovely in a flower arrangement, your picture is such a beautiful colour, I wish I could grow it in my garden.
