Celtic Knot Butterfly
This is easier than it looks. This pattern is by Rozella Linden in her book Celtic Tatting Knots and Patterns. I bought this book sometime back but this is the first pattern I am tatting.
Flora Size 20 threads in #218 and Lizbeth Size 20 #164 Blue River Glades were used. A tail was added to make this a bookmark.

Easier then it looks? For YOU perhaps! That book and its patterns made me crazy last year. I CANNOT get the hang of those blasted knots - honestly, I remember being reduced to tears!
ReplyDeleteYour butterflies are very beautiful, especially in that final photo. Ohhh - I hope I am not motivated enough to try it again.... Such frustration!

These are beautiful! Great idea to make it into a bookmark, and very cool how you added the tassel at the end.
ReplyDeleteLovely butterflies, very elegant!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterfly,good work.
ReplyDeleteMmm, I really like this butterfly! How big is it? The blue river glades is especially lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh I love it, the butterfly is totally gorgeous
ReplyDeleteI must see if I can find this book and put it on my wish list

Gorgeous butterflies!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI recognized this pattern right away! I am SO envious that you can do it!! It's on my 'Top Ten' list! Ive looked at the instructions but have felt quite intimidated by them. I still can't do her basic pumpkin pattern - not the tatting, the weaving, even with string! This is a beautiful bookmark!
ReplyDelete=O I love it =)
ReplyDeleteThose are so pretty! They look very difficult. I love projects that look harder than they really are. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the lovely comments. This one I could manage. I am not too good with weaving either but this is just and overhand knot. Do try it! I promise it will be very rewarding.
ReplyDeleteOh I forgot, in size 20 the butterfly is approx. 2 inches across.
ReplyDeleteWow your butterfly bookmarks are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement! It was funny to read Fox's comment because I feel the same way! But if this is only an overhand knot, I might be able to do it!
ReplyDeleteHello Wendy, Your tatted butterflies are so very lovely. Your Gingerbread Boys are also fantastic as is your snowflakes too. I am back after a long absent. I have missed seeing your tatting creations. Hugs Judy
