If you love tatted lace, jewellery, plants and anything handcrafted, come back often. I will regularly post items that are made by me, plants that I grow and interesting things that I photograph.

Charlotte Doily 1 Completed (LHO 14)
I think this Lizbeth Size 20 thread in Col. 678 Olive Dark is perfect match to Lady Shuttle Maker's HDT Hosta Leaf Size 20. Tatted 6 more rounds to complete this pattern. This time I made sure the blocking was carefully done. What do you think?
This pattern can be found on page 99 of Lovely Tatting Doilies for Spring and Summer by Lee Hye-oon.

Mom's Favourite Desserts
I know where I got my sweet tooth from. Mom loves her desserts. Above is ice kacang which is shaved ice with syrup and evaporated milk. Hidden in the bowl is sweetcorn, red beans, roasted groundnuts, attap seed and chin chow.
This is soybean curd with ginger syrup. I must admit this particular one has a lovely smooth texture more like custard.

First Ice Drop
Diane posted her ice drop pattern here. I wanted to try it out so I went searching for the glass drops which I know I bought years back for a glass project.
I found a tiny tin bucket of these blue glass drops. I used a Japanese Size 20 thread but it looked like a size 10 or larger.
It was fast to tat and pattern was easy to follow. I should try it with a proper Size 20.

Pink Baskets
Chinese New Year is less than 2 weeks away.
This was what I saw at the supermarket.
Cute little pig metal baskets just big enough
to hold 2 mandarin oranges.
Great for gifting during CNY visits.

Wonky Charlotte
Last week I had problems uploading photos on my phone to Blogger. At this point I was ready to give up blogging and switch to Instagram. I was using an app but somehow it was not working. I tried again yesterday and the problem was resolved. Thanks to the app developer.
Anyway, the blocking of this made it look skewed to one side. The HDT Hosta Leaf Size 20 thread ends here. I will pick a new colour to continue and complete the pattern. Let's hope it is a good one. I have limited choice in Size 20 as most of my threads are Size 40.

Serenity
The colours remind me of lotus flowers
but it is actually a Calathea.
So calming and serene.

Pandora Bracelet of the Week 21
This should teach me a lesson in patience. I recently got the Poetic Blooms Moments bracelet, Poetic Blooms clips, Cherry Blossom pendant and Wild Hearts murano before the winter sale which is now on at Pandora.
But I did get the above bracelet as a gift with purchase. You win some and you lose some. The 2019 Valentine's Day collection is out. What are you getting from there?

Black and Gold Decorations
I know Christmas decorations have been replaced by the Chinese New Year decorations but I just wanted to show you this black and gold themed decorations at Westgate shopping mall. I was there to visit the newly opened Spotlight store just after Christmas last year.

Charlotte Doily 1 WIP
I started a new doily from Lee Hye-oon's Lovely Tatting Doilies for Spring and Summer. I used Lady Shuttle Maker's HDT Hosta Leaf in Size 20. I wound whatever's left of the skein onto 2 shuttles so I may not have enough to finish the pattern. We will have to decide where to stop tatting or change threads.

Christmas Cards
I cannot remember if I showed you the card I received from Margaret in 2017 (left) and the one on the right which I received for 2018. Both are handmade by Margaret. I just love these cards.
With this card, came gifts from her travels to Croatia, Belgium and Turkey. Thank you so much, Margaret. It is so very thoughtful of you.

Sashka Bangles
Have you seen these beaded bangles from Sashka Co.? I ordered them in early December and the post took its time delivering it. It took nearly a month to reach me. Usually it takes 7-10 days. It must have been the holiday season with many packages to deliver.
I am very pleased with these bangles. So happy that I just ordered more. The bangles are crocheted with glass beads by women artisans in Nepal. It is a fair trade enterprise to empower women to rise above poverty. There are two sizes: the usual size fits 6-7 inch wrists or get the larger 8 inch one. Just roll them onto your wrist.
You can use this link for a limited time discount or just visit their website to see what discounts are available.

Faith (MK #72 )
If at first you don't succeed,
try
and try again.
Can you spot the mistakes?
A pattern from page 90 of Mary Konior's book
titled Tatting with Visual Patterns.
A very elegant pattern tatted in one round,
all rings, using one shuttle.
Just need to watch where you join to.
But the third try was a success, after some unpicking.

Trollbeads Bangle
There is currently only one Trollbeads store in Singapore at Vivocity. I first decided on the copper bangle with 2 copper spacer, water lilies of July, single water lily spacer and Troll anemone pendant.
But after bringing it home and trying it on, the copper started oxidizing. I took it back to the shop the very next day and exchanged it for a sterling silver bangle and added another single water lily spacer. Also styled it with some of my own beads.

Orange Hoya
I bought a cutting of this plant years ago at the Garden show. It was slow growing and never flowered. Then a few months back, I moved it to a shadier part of the balcony and it gave a few flower buds, but dropped without blooming. Then I decided to give it a dose of Epsom salt and this is the result. It could be Hoya lasiantha but I am not certain. Anyway I am happy as most plants I got from the show died on me.
