Large Clover Shuttles
I could not resist this. Large Clover shuttles in new colours. I was at the craft shop in Chinatown to get some crystal string for my stretchy bracelets. I have plenty of shuttles but mostly prefer to tat with the Sewmate and Clover shuttles. The Sewmate picks are sharper and thinner but these Clover ones are sharp too. Very handy when you need to unpick. The large ones are especially useful for bigger projects or when beads are required. What is your favourite shuttle?

Pretty colors! You're lucky your local craft shop carries shuttles. It's ordering on the internet for me most of the time. My favorite shuttle: The one I have in my hand!
ReplyDeleteReally easy for me to answer! Bobbin shuttles with hooks! The Aero England was the best plastic bobbin shuttle ever designed. Sadly, we took it for granted (I only have two, unfortunately.) Aerlits are excellent substitutes, and I'm grateful for them. Love the colors, also! The wood Pop a Bobbins are beautifully crafted and highly prized. We are very lucky they are available!
ReplyDeleteI prefer bobbin shuttles with hooks because of their efficiency. I would have no patience using a separate crochet hook for joining!
And very importantly, I wind my shuttles by simply rolling the bobbin (on a flat surface) while it is still inside the shuttle, and don't have to ever remove the bobbin just to wind it. I also roll the bobbin to retract the thread when going from a ring to a chain.
I do use a post shuttle when doing the second half of a 'single-shuttle split ring' (SSSR). The shuttle is used instead of doing finger tatting. I can explain this further if you wish.
I also use the large Tatsy shuttle when I demonstrate tatting, as I use cotton yarn to more clearly show the knots.
It's all about whatever tool makes you feel comfortable! We're lucky we now have so many choices for tatting!
You can never have enough shuttlesπ
ReplyDeleteI do like the small clovers but love the feel of my pop a bobbin. Recently I tried a GR8 shuttle and it works great it has a largish bobbin. Depending on the project one shuttle is preferred over another.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter if it's an earring pattern or a doily I use the Tatsy. A well made one will handle from size 10 thread to size 100. It will hold lots of beads, it's just my favorite :)
ReplyDeleteπππππwow! What crazy timing! Hilarious! Enjoy.π
ReplyDeleteLovely colours, my local craft does not sell anything for tatting so everything comes on the Internet.
