Masquerade completed (MK#11)

This is the largest piece of tatting I have completed to date. It measures about 9 by 7 inches. This is Masquerade from Mary Konior's book 'Tatting with Visual Patterns'. It's tatted in Flora cotton thread size 20 in red (#221). I think I will frame this and hang it on the wall. Can you see the hugs and kisses, xoxoxo?

I managed to borrow Mary's 'A Pattern Book of Tatting' from the library and now happily tatting more of her patterns. Will post as I complete each pattern.

  8. Thank you for your comments! I am happy with how it turned out too although there was a picot I forgot to join.

Mary Konior's patterns are just awesome. I enjoy them so.

I chose red because I wanted them to look like the Chinese paper cuttings. I will show you what I mean one of these days.

I could spend all my time tating her patterns and not be bored at all.

  9. Stunning!. You are so brave to have done it in that thread - I find it to be so twisty, but your piece is smooth and consistent. That red is fabulous! Nice work!

  10. You know, I have never had any problem tatting with Flora thread but after tatting with Lizbeth, it seems a little wiry. But it was the only ball of red thread large enough for the pattern. I still love my Flora thread colours.

I love the red in Lizbeth Western Sunset, maybe they have a solid red to match.

  13. Your Masquerade doily(?) is gorgeous. The pattern looks awesome in red. I plan on revisiting this pattern later, once my Windmills doily is done. I too haven't had any issues with Flora.
