The last time I was at this nail salon, I noticed the decal on the wall and the lanterns. It is nice spending an hour or two here while browsing through fashion magazines.
If you love tatted lace, jewellery, plants and anything handcrafted, come back often. I will regularly post items that are made by me, plants that I grow and interesting things that I photograph.

Tiny Angel #8
This little angel measures only 1 x 1.5 inches. Tatted in Lizbeth size 40 Ocean Teal Medium (664). Pattern is from Patricia Ann Rizzo in her book title '15 Tiny Tatted Angels'.
As you can guess by now, I am taking a long break from the Corona. I do not know when I continue with that. Perhaps I need a break from tatting. So if you do not hear from me, you know what happened.

Coffee
I have been drinking Moccona coffee since the 1980s but this is the first time I saw this dark gold blend. I have not tried it yet. Maybe as soon as I finish the current bottle.
These days, I find the coffee at the cafes too strong for me. I can hardly finish a cup.

Tatted Cube
Tatted in Daruma Lace Size 30 thread in mocha brown. I added some Delica beads. Thread, beads and pattern are from Japan. The thread was in the clearance bin with a 40% discount. The thread seemed more like a size 10 to me. I purchased a few colours. Sometimes, you just need a larger sized thread.
This was not as easy as it looked. There is a mistake in one of the joining picots as I joined to a wrong picot.

Hot Tsuru
She goes belly up when she is hot. This is her famous pose telling you to lower the air-con temperature. It has been rather hot and humid these days. Do we listen to her . . .
nah . . . we just tell her it is time for a bath.

Year Fifteen
Sad are the hearts that love you,
Sad are the tears that fall,
But living our lives without you,
Is the saddest part of all.

Three Interlocking Circles
It is supposed to be attached to a hairpin or a hair tie but I am not pleased to as how it turned out. Perhaps my picots were a little too large or I did not block it properly. Somehow the interlocking rings are moving too freely.
I did not like the thread colour either. Loved the colour on the ball but it looks washed out when tatted up. Decided to use different coloured beads for each ring. Pattern is found on page 54 in this Japanese book which I got a few months back.

Green Marrow
For less than $2, you can feed two persons with stir fried bean vermicelli and sliced green marrow. Add beaten eggs and a chicken stock cube and it is ready to eat. Eat it on its own or as a side dish with rice.
It must have been a bumper crop of green marrow. I only needed one but they were packaged in twos for $1.
Anyone needs a green marrow?

Tatted in Lizbeth size 40 Arctic Waters, it measures just about 2 inches across. A Swarovski crystal pearl is attached in the centre. Pattern is from Mark Myers' book - Tatted Gathering of Angels.

Community Centre Orchids
Two months ago these orchids were planted in soil outside our community centre. I wondered how they would do in that clay soil in full sunshine. The flowers had a lovely purple pink orange hue. I think it is a Vanda hybrid. Which one, I am not so sure.
A few weeks later, the orchids were gone. What was left were holes in the clay soil.
The week after, it was back but planted in bark chips. Lets hope they survive better.

Corona WIP 9
Finally, all 12 oval motifs are done. Yes, most of you noticed the difference in thread here. I did not have enough of Lizbeth 80-647 Purple Iris Dark to finish the remaining 6 ovals, so I used Lizbeth 80-177 Elderberry Jam which is variegated. Now to join them to each other and to the main piece with twisted chains. Sounds tedious.
Colour-wise, I am thinking too much purple. I want to add more red but I do not want to put in another order of thread as I have tons, just not in the right colour or size.
I have to choose a colour where I have a new ball as at this point, lots of thread is needed. Lizbeth Size 80 threads come in 10g or about 184 yards per ball of thread.

Traditional Biscuit
I have not eaten this for years. It is made of flour, eggs and sugar. Really sinful but good. This is a 5-inch block and I gobbled it up in just 2 days. It is made in Malaysia and although sold here in Singapore, I do not see many people buying it.
They should re-package into smaller bite-size pieces and individually wrap it so that it is easier and not so messy to eat.

Celtic Rosebud Heart
I am not sure the weaving in the centre is right but it is done and I am quite satisfied. It was a nice break from the Corona doily. It will make a pretty coaster.
Tatted in Lizbeth size 20 and it is about 3.25 inches across. The pattern is in Celtic Tatted Leaves & Flowers by Rozella Linden.

Radish Puff
This is the radish puff from Paradise Dynasty. Lovely flaky pastry with shredded white Chinese radish within. We had a bowl of noodles each and shared this for dinner.
We thought we would take a leisurely evening walk to dinner after all it was just about 2 km away.
Then, we decided to take a bus there and then walk back.
Then it was the bus back as we had some groceries to get.
Plans never go as they should, do they?

White Hydrangeas
I think they are white hydrangeas arranged with some drift wood. Local flowers, vegetables or fruits would make lovely arrangements too.
Let's see, how about pandan leaves with mangosteens and bunga kantan/torch ginger or ixora flowers.
Happy Birthday to Shu May!
