La Sagrada Familia

One of the first places we visited in Barcelona last October was Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia. We were really tired after an overnight flight of 14 hours. But it did not fail to awe you. It is a Roman Catholic church designed by Antoni Gaudi. Construction started in 1882 and it is still not finished.

Our 1st view of it from Montjuic Park (location of the 1992 Olympic Games Stadium).

  3. Is this the church that a Gaudi scholar has been trying to finish all his life? How wonderful to have been able to see it!

  5. Wow! Amazing. I have visited other cathedrals in Spain and South America and see some parallels in the architecture, but the style is so modern. I'm sure it is breathtaking in person.

  6. I didn't know you had been to Spain! These are excellent photos, and you sent me to reading more about this amazing cathedral! It's definitely awe inspiring, but also overwhelming, and it's difficult to comprehend the extremes of architectural details.. I don't think I would feel comfortable inside! I'd be too distracted! Thanks again for sharing your travel adventures!
