Tat A Monument In Pink

These are twenty squares ready to be sent to Cathy. I added some beads to a few squares. I hope that it is okay. Can you spot those in the photo?

I managed to find some Flora size 20 threads in 3 shades of pink (#224, 211 & 207) and tatted with those, plus the Milford Mercer in pink and ombre pink. 

I did not manage to buy a postcard of Singapore so I used what I already had in my stationery stash. A postcard is not easy to buy these days. Most shops do not sell them any more unless you visit tourist attractions or hotel gift shops.

Makes me think of what else is becoming obsolete.

Painted Glass Beads

I visited the China Craft Fair at a local mall and saw these beads. They are glass but painted with a tiny brush from the inside. Above are gold fish beads and the artist asked if I wanted it customised. Yes, please.



This one is a little out of focus but you get that it is a bamboo branch. It is elongated and larger than the gold fish beads. No customisation on this one.

I have not done much tatting so nothing to show you for now. Maybe next week.

Tat a Monument in Pink

Late last week, I received an email from Cathy. It was her call to join in the 'Tat a Monument in Pink'. Details are linked here. The deadline is 1st March 2018 and I wonder if I am too late to contribute. Anyway, I managed to tat 2 squares. Perhaps I will email Cathy to ask if she can extend the deadline. 

I followed Cathy's pattern and used the only pink Size 20 threads I have in Milford Mercer pink and ombre pink. I also need to get a postcard. I hope I remember to do that this weekend and post it next week. It will probably reach her after the deadline but hopefully not too late to be incorporated.

Pink & Purple Lions

We had a family lunch in PJ on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year. There was a lion dance at the mall. Very colourful and these lions were throwing oranges into the crowd.

Black Fortune Cat

This year, I decided to go with this solar powered fortune cat.
Tsuru was wondering why it was waving. She soon got bored.  Hopefully that cat brings some fortune with that Toto ticket it is sitting on.

Nails for the New Year

I wanted a reddish purple but it came out more red than purple. Toes are painted in the same red. I never need gel nails on my toes but the shop always promote a gel manicure and pedicure set for the new year. 

The manicurists are mostly from Yunnan, China and they do not get to spend new year with their families. They prefer to visit families and home at other times of the year when the shop is not so busy and they can spend more time home.

This year it is red, purple and lots of pinks.

Only here, will you see pink lions.

We will be joining family for dinner tomorrow which is the eve and on new year's day on 16 February.

Alice Doily WIP4 (LHO1)

This is the exact spot when I stopped to check and found a mistake made 4 rounds earlier. Can you imagine my horror? I immediately chucked the doily to one side. I hate mistakes! 

If you refer to the previous post and look carefully, you will see the mistake there. I wonder why I did not notice it when I blocked for that photo then. Sigh!
