If you love tatted lace, jewellery, plants and anything handcrafted, come back often.
I will regularly post items that are made by me, plants that I grow and interesting things that I photograph.
Six done, six to go. Still a long while before this gets done. I am getting a little restless and wanting to start on a new project. I am worried about having enough threads. To solve that I have to add more colours.
If you look closely, you can see the light brown pods full of fibres. We grew up sleeping on pillows stuffed with these fibres. I remember there was a kapok tree in grandma's garden.
We booked a table thinking it was a buffet lunch but realised when we got there it was a totally new restaurant. It was a large place but we were the only other table there for Sunday lunch at 12 noon. Perhaps it will get busy later in the day or for dinner, supper or late night drinks. There are still places in Singapore that are not crowded.
Well, food was good and we had excellent service from a fine young waiter from Spain.
I was wrong. The next round was not joining to the centrepiece yet. Since the last post, I have added 2 rounds. I still have 11 more motifs to add to. It is time consuming but it does look quite pretty.
This is finally done. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40, this measures about 19 inches across. Thank you Fox for pointing me to this challenge. I had fun matching the thread colours. The last round was a little tedious because I kept making silly mistakes.
They are flowering and some trees have more flowers than leaves. A popular tree along this expressway. It would be nice to see mass planting of this tree in a park. Imagine all the trees flowering at the same time. Experience the golden shower of yellow petals.
The last round of this spring doily was revealed but after two false starts it is not done yet. In the first, I tatted 6 repeats before realizing that there should be 6 rings. So I started again but the chains in the first and second motif were different. Yes, all silly mistakes. Where did my mind go?
These motifs are not joined yet. The next round will do that but I had to block it first before I could continue as the chains were just out of control. A little too fiddly for my liking but I am anxious to see the end result.
The other Hoya has flowered and ants are attracted to it. My Marigolds are still not doing as well as expected. It probably needs more sunlight. Although it has flowered, all the flowers are tiny.
I used Lizbeth size 40 Col. 657 Ocean turquoise dark and Col. 664 Ocean teal medium. I will use the same colours for the last round. Or maybe just use Seascape.
I tried to duplicate what I ate but it just was not the same without the right herbs. However it was not too bad and it tasted quite good, not as sweet. Wood ear fungi was added for the crunch. I was tempted to add raw bean sprouts too but decided against it later.
I had the best kacang botol (4 angled bean) salad on board SQ from Bangkok to Singapore. I was inspired to try making it myself. Lets see how that goes.
I always enjoy my trips to Bangkok. I come home happy! Do you have a place that you would journey to over and over again?
I started this round wanting to use all charcoal for all 12 motifs but after reading your comments in the earlier post, charcoal was alternately used with red burst. I am quite happy with the result.
