Edged Hankies

These cotton hankies are made in China. Inexpensive but printed on only one side.  I got them from Chinatown here in Singapore. I have plans for these two hankies. Will keep you posted.

Plaza de Espana in Seville

Building located at the edge of Maria Luisa Park
Vicente Traver Fountain
Bridge over moat
We visited Seville in October 2012. The weather was hot and sunny. This is Plaza de Espana with its beautiful architecture. If the buildings look familiar, you may have seen it in the Star Wars Episode 2.

In this map of Caceres, there is a town with AAA's family name.

Valeire Edging No. 75

This is an edging from the Anna Valeire Book No. 3. Again I chose this for its simple design. The thread is Lizbeth Size 40 in Fruit Fizz (#139). You will see it when it is done and sewn in. I added my version of the corner design. Hope it works.

Tatted Collar #1 - Completed

The last round seemed like forever to tat. I think it would be lovely to tat matching cuffs for this collar and perhaps with some beads. I forgot about the beads for this one.

This is tatted in Size 40 threads in peach and the pattern is from Monica Hanh's 'Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns' on page 21. There are two other variations of this collar in the book. I wonder if there are other collar patterns with mignonette.

Forget-me-not (MK#64)

I thought Margaret's tatted hanky edgings was oh so elegant. I was looking for a simple design and remembered Mary Konior had a few simple edging patterns in one of her books. This pattern is from Mary Konior's book 'A Pattern Book of Tatting' on page 28. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 in Caribbean (#122).

Shop for Rent?

It could be a lovely little shop.
Unusual architecture in an old housing estate.
Amidst old and new establishments.
Currently empty,
perhaps it is looking for a specific tenant.

Montserrat, Spain

The drive up Montserrat was quite amazing. Magnificent views of the unusual rock formations. The Benedictine abbey is also home to the Virgin of Montserrat, a black-faced madonna and the famous Montserrat Boys Choir. Unfortunately we did not see either.

Elderberry Jam Schwenke Motif x2

Two motifs joined together makes a nice shape too.
One could stop here.
I like the light and dark blotches made by this colourway.
Hope it works well here.

Gaudi's Garden

It reminded me of crazy quilting. This is Parque Guell in Barcelona. We visited very early in the morning last October before other visitors arrived. It was cool and quiet and so peaceful. After an hour of walking around we were off to Montserrat.

Tatted Collar #1 WIP

Love the mignonette in this pattern as it gave the collar a very delicate look. This is almost done. Last round pending. Tatted in Daiso thread Size 40 in peach. Pattern is from Monica Hanh's 'Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns'.

Christmas Berry Wreath

Nancy made a call to tat this Christmas Berry Wreath. It will make a nice motif on a Christmas card or if you tat it in a smaller thread, a great pair of earrings too.

In Perle cotton Size 8, my wreath is about 2 inches across. I was tempted to add beads for the berries but because of the Josephine knots, I had to try it. It was a little fiddly at first. I think if the JKs were a little bigger and my picots a little smaller, I would love it even more.

Thanks to Nancy for pointing us to this lovely pattern of LaRae Mikulecky and the helpful photos from Claudia Meza. Don't you just love the online tatting community?

Brioche Con Gelato

It was ST's birthday lunch and we just had to try this
Tables are scarce since everyone wants to dine there.
We just walked in early at noon.
We shared an antipasti of crispy stuffed risotto balls.
ST had the cannelloni - good.
I had the lamb chops - a little overdone.
This dessert was nothing fancy -
strawberry and lemon gelato with warm buns.
Service was fast.
We loved the restaurant decor and ambience.
Food presentation was very 'Jamie'.

Vintage Edging No. 88999

Christmas colours for this edging. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 20 #116 Christmas Delight. It was meant for a white towel but I think the design would be best appreciated on a darker contrasting colour. The pattern is found on page 78 of The Tatter's Treasure Chest edited by Mary Carolyn Waldrep.

La Sagrada Familia

One of the first places we visited in Barcelona last October was Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia. We were really tired after an overnight flight of 14 hours. But it did not fail to awe you. It is a Roman Catholic church designed by Antoni Gaudi. Construction started in 1882 and it is still not finished.

Our 1st view of it from Montjuic Park (location of the 1992 Olympic Games Stadium).
