Living in Singapore

We are fortunate to live in a country full of scrumptious food. Lucky to be able to get a quick meal at the hawker centre or coffee shop for $2.50 or lunch at a restaurant for $25.00. Yes, living in Singapore can be expensive but there are still places to find good and inexpensive food.

Tatting for Judy

I sent these to Judy of CJ Stitching and Blooms for an exchange. Judy wanted some tatting to embelish her Crazy Quilt of my Dreams. She has received them and I really hope the colours of the tatted motifs would match her quilt. I would really love to see how it would look when it is completed. Check out her blog.

What was exchanged? Well, I asked for something she made and to my pleasant surprise, she made me this beautiful Crazy Patchwork pincushion. Isn't it just lovely. I love fuchsias and the colours she chose are just perfect. Did you notice the embroidered W in a Victorian leaf design, butterfly and roses. Judy loves roses and butterflies.

Judy sent me two postcards to show me where she lived and a skein of cotton thread in a separate envelope because she forgot to put them into the package the day before. Judy is just so sweet. What I wanted to show you here is the writing paper. I forgot to photograph the lower part. In the photo here you can see two girls holding hands near the river and at the bottom it has a quote:

Kindred spirits are not as scarce as I used to think, Its splendid to find out that there are so many of them in the world. ~Anne of Green Gables~

I think so too!

Guess who has been busy

They have been at this for 2 weeks now. They have to work very hard because 80% of it ends up on my balcony floor. But I am so glad they're back. It might be a different set of love birds. This photo was taken on 22 February 2009. Let's see how this progresses.

Tatted book thong for Sally

I have tatted this in Sally's favourite colour. I hope she likes it and finds it useful. I have made a few of these in different colour threads. I think I will post them on Etsy. Hmmm.. maybe yes, maybe not. I have yet to decide. What do you think?

Yoga

I do not miss my yoga classes. One less thing that I need to do. My days are currently filled with things I need to do, not what I want to do. However my body misses yoga. It now aches. Some things are good for you even though it feels like a chore. Practice yoga on your own at home? Nah, it’s too difficult. The moment I lay out my yoga mat out, Tsuru sits on it. When you are lying on the mat breathing deeply, Tsuru starts kneading and sits on you. When you are in Warrior II pose, the neighbour across peers at you wondering what you are up to. Hmmmm.. I know it's just excuses? Isn't that why we go to the aerobics or yoga classes or the gym?

Reading glasses

This is a chain which I made to hang your glasses. This is for a friend for her reading glasses and a matching silk pouch. The lower photo is a green silk pouch with a purple pair of reading glasses? Cool isn't it? They also come in different colours. I bought this for another friend. The design of the reading glasses is such that it can be easily folded and kept in your shirt pocket or handbag. Even if you drop it, it is cushioned.

Tatted Square doily

This pattern is from my Japanese Book 'Tatting Lace'. I posted it here last December. The top doily (5 inches across) is tatted in Yarnplayer's Pizzazz Size 30 and the lower doily (4 inches across) is tatted in Yarnplayer's Bronzed Rose Size 80. Blocking is a lot to be desired. I should get a proper grid to pin the tatting down.

Tatted cross bookmark

Last Christmas, I made some crosses from Elizabeth's pattern. I decided to see whether by joining a split ring tail, it would make a bookmark. Perhaps it is not stiff enough.

Scenes from my neighbourhood

The Roti Man is still around selling all sorts of buns, bread and snacks on his motorcycle. It is becoming a rare sight now. Where I grew up, the roti man would come by every evening selling roti. His wares are a little different now but he is still welcomed every evening. Children run to greet him to buy all sorts of snacks. We use to buy our daily supply of bread from him and I would sometimes treat myself to some coconut buns. I sometimes long for it. What is amazing is how he balances all those bags on his bike.

What is this?

Someone gave me this, the day we were leaving for Kuala Lumpur for a week. I did not want to eat it or bring it with me so I decided to store it in the freezer. After several weeks in the freezer, I decided to thaw it one day. Can you guess what this is? To my surprise I saw the label on the back and it read, Made in China. What does it look like to you?

Tagged for the 6 Picture Meme

Judy of CJ Stitching and Blooms tagged me for the 6 Picture Meme. I am happy to participate but I don't think I feel comfortable tagging 6 people. I hope you will understand.

If you would however like to participate, here are the rules:
1. Go to your Picture Folder on your computer.
2. Go to the 6th Folder, pick the 6th picture in that folder.
3. Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes with it.
4. Tag 6 other people to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog.

Here is my photo. This was taken in my brother's home during his wedding in September 2008. The Chinese character here means double happiness which is often used during weddings. Judy, this one I know.
