Re-purposed Kuali

I was about to put this old wok into the recycling bin but found a new purpose for it. It now sits in my balcony with plants growing well in it. I am glad I did not get rid of it.

Korean Japchae

My version of Korean Japchae. Each ingredient is stir fried separately before putting it all together with soya sauce and sesame oil. The glass noodles are made from sweet potato flour. The dish consists of vegetables - carrots, french beans, red capsicum, with black wood ear fungi, egg whites and egg yolks. I forgot to sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds for the photo.

Hanging Garden WIP

Round 1 and 3 - tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 Lollipop Col. 135. Round 2 tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 Kelly Green Medium Col. 712. I know the green seemed an odd choice but I was too lazy to find the matching colour. Sometimes it would work out but perhaps not this time.

Tsuru

Rose Mallow Version 2 (HMK 2)

It was difficult to get back to the momentum of tatting. After several false starts, this was finally done. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 20 Azalea Medium Col. 620. The motif measures 6 inches across. Hope the next Ha Mi-Kyoung project would be a breeze to tat. You really need a picot gauge with the required lengths, otherwise it is a little troublesome and fiddly to tat.

Gold Fortune Cats

These fortune cats were for my sister and brother-in-law. 

It sits in their living room facing the front door.

My solar-powered one sits by my balcony door facing the front door too.

Seletar Reservoir

We drove to Sembawang Hills Estate to a pet shop which has everything you need for cats. Yes, Miss Tsuru needed her cat treats and her gourmet kibble. 

On the way home, we passed by Seletar Reservoir and decided to stop and take in the view.

It is quiet and we only saw three other persons there. Good place to sit and have some peace.

Lunar New Year Cake

We had this beautiful cake for tea on the 1st day of the lunar new year. Seems small for a 2 kg cake but it was enough for about 30 people. 

The two tier cake was decorated to look like the collar of the qipao with two little fortune cats at the top. 

New Year Lanterns

This was simple, yet eye catching and different. Small lanterns in two shades of red arranged and lighted up to make a giant one. Love it.

Tsuru - Normal Again

Miss Tsuru has her apetite back. She seems to be eating all the canned food I put down for her without toppings of her treats. That is a good sign. She is also back to her usual self of wanting to go in and out of the room every 10 mins. Yes, usually after I have settled in my chair with tatting. Not that I have been tatting at all. Hopefully, I will start soon.
