Hanky Edging #4 - Completed, Posted and Received

I took these photos before sending the hanky off to the Tatting Goddess. You may have seen it on her blog too. I bought this handkerchief with her in mind. I wanted a special hanky for tatting and chose this one thinking Gina would definitely appreciate the pulled lacework. Gina has also done some wonderful needle lace on her lace blog too. Details of the tatting are listed here.

  1. That is probably the most beautiful hanky I've ever seen! I love the different ways you've displayed it.

  4. As you know, Gina has showcased this fabulous handkerchief on her header, and intends to frame it! It's truly a work of art!

I guess the frustrating thing for me is that I would never in a million years be able to do that thread work! Do you have any idea where the hanky came from? I can't believe it's even humanly possible to do that kind of work. And I know I would search in vain for a handkerchief like that in the shops.

But as lovely as the hanky is on its own, you brought it to another level entirely with that exquisite tatted edge, which is (to me) an amazing pattern, in that it kind of mimics clunies.

The link to your prior post about the edging is appreciated, and you definitely 'teased' us with it back then! You seem to have finished it very quickly!

I love the photo in the 'envelope' position!

  8. Thank you for all you kind comments. It wasn't difficult to tat and it only took perseverance to complete it. As I was tatting for Gina, I knew I had to finish it and I had a deadline. It turned out all for the best.
