Wiosna 2017 WIP 4



In this Round 9, I decided to change to a variegated thread.
It looks like a different shade of purple in
Lizbeth Size 40 Col. 162 Purple Iris Fusion.
Perhaps it will turn out okay.

New Jade Earrings




These jade earrings were set by a jeweller friend. I bought these jade pieces thinking I could wire them myself using the 14K gold filled findings but decided to get them done by the professional instead. I am glad I did. These are set in 22K gold and tiny green garnets. The carved jade pieces measure about 1.5 inches and drop about 2 inches with the ear hooks. These earrings can be worn on either sides depending on your mood or outfit.

Sweet Tooth



Two of my favourite local desserts.

Ice Jelly with honey sea coconut and palm fruit in syrup with shaved ice.

'Orh nee' or yam (taro) paste with ginkgo seeds and coconut cream.

Tmae Princess Version 1 ( HMK 10)



I finished one of the motifs. This is tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 in Col. 161 Sea Island Citrus. Blocking is a must and I also left it in between pages of a pattern book to flatten it. 

It is quite a large motif, measuring 6 inches across. I have not done the 2nd motif as I am currently tatting the Wiosna Spring Doily 2017 Round 9. It is about half way done.

Marmite Prawns



Have you had rice porridge with Bovril?
Or toast with butter and Bovril?
Well, when Bovril was unavailable, we chose Marmite.
I remember growing up having that.

We recently had the above dish at a restaurant.
Quite delicious too with rice.

Budak Jahat



One of the nicknames this princess is called 
when she misbehaves.
It just means naughty child in Malay.

How does she misbehave?
She meows at the bedroom door to come in and not a minute later she scratches at the door wanting to go out. 
She does this several times each night.

Sentosa Boardwalk



This is the view from the centre of the boardwalk linking Singapore and Sentosa. 
On the right is Harbour Front and on the left is Sentosa.


Cruise ships and the cable cars.


Saw some gar fish(?) in waters around the boardwalk.

I forgot to join the picots in the central rings of the top motif and the long picots were not consistent in length. I decided to redo and tatted the bottom one. It was a breeze when it is fresh in your mind. Two more rounds to go.

Plumbago



They should look more blue but exposed to bright sunlight, it now looks a pale blue.

These were planted as a roadside shrub.
It looks pretty now but when it rains, it is a sorry sight.

Lime Soda (HMK9)



As usual, I overdid it with the blocking. It is a pretty pattern by Ha Mi-Kyoung on page 86 of her book. I used Lizbeth Size 40 in Col. 129 Purple Splendour and it is tatted in one round with two shuttles. In hers, she used two different colours. Love her version too.

Potato Sticks



I recently discovered these potato sticks. 

My favourite are the balsamic vinegar potato chips from Lorenz but this could be my new favourite.


Although you can get the Jagabee pack in local stores, the Potato Farm pack was bought in Hokkaido, Japan. I have not seen that in Singapore. Both are very good!!
