Rose - Purple & Gold

This is a pattern by Ginny Weathers from her book '12 Ornaments of Christmas Book 2'. In her book, she used rose-shaped dangle beads, hence the name. I used whatever dangle beads I had. I wanted to reduce my bead stash and try not yo buy more beads.

I wanted to tat a few in different colours to decorate my glass bottles.

Beautiful Stick Ice Cream

From the tuk tuk, it was ice cream. It was just too beautiful not to try. The one we got was a durian ice cream coated in white chocolate and decorated with a pretty sunflower.

Food Tuk Tuk

Can you guess what was being served up from this tuk tuk?

TF #40

I had threads left in the shuttle from the last motif. Tried this pattern on page 38 of 'The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 in English Rose Medium (Col. 700), Fern Green Medium (Col. 675) and Berry Burst (Col. 137).

TF #47

I left the bare threads too long. It should be a few millimeters shorter. It will be better next time. Done in one round with 3 shuttles, it was easier than anticipated. Used Lizbeth Size 40 in Berry Burst Col. 137, Fern Green Medium Col. 675 and English Rose Medium Col. 700.

Pattern is from 'The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito on page 47.

Layered Yam and Pumpkin

Yam and pumpkin topped with sesame seeds and pan fried. It was one of the many dim sum dishes offered in this Szechuan restaurant. Nice!

TF #34

I must admit this was an unusual tat and colour choice. I was too lazy to rummage through my thread stash and just used what was already out.

Pattern is found in 'The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito' on page 32. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 in Sea Island Citrus Col. 161 and Plum Col. 625.

Acrobatic Baby Elephant

This cheeky baby was quite the acrobat. He greeted us every morning at the lift lobby while we holidayed in Bangkok.

TF #18

The chains in this made an interesting design element which reminded me of tulips. I love it although I should have used Size 40 threads instead. I think it would have been better suited. This is a pattern from Teiko Fujito's book Tatted Fashion on page 37. Tatted in Flora Size 20 Col. 234.

Thai Food

Dinner in Bangkok at Taling Pling Central World Level 3. Battered Squid, Green Curry Chicken and Bean Vermicelli warm salad. Yum!

TF #31

Lizbeth's Niagara Falls Col. 158 is a lovely colour. Tatted in Size 40, this motif measures about 3.5 inches across. The pattern is from 'The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito' on page 30.

TF #24

I was afraid that the picot lengths were too long but it worked out all right. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 20 in Gold Col. 611 and Flora 20 in Col. 234. Another great pattern from Teiko Fujito's book 'Tatted Fashion' on page 39.

Sea Spray Motif

This pattern calls for 4 round motifs joined together with a centre motif tatted in last. Unfortunately, it did not go as planned because I joined too many picots together and thus could not put in a centre. Decided to leave it as such. Still pretty isn't it? Pattern is from Tomoko Morimoto's New Tatting book on page 121. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 Ocean Teal Medium Col. 664.

White Dragon Siam Tulip

These flowers were magnificent. A simple gathering is all it needed. Doesn't it look grand? These are the flowers of Globba winitii, a native of Thailand.

TF #29

This pattern is from 'The Tatted Artistry of Teiki Fujito' on page 28. Pretty and delicate. Tatted in Altin Basak Size 50 in three colours - 324, 367 & 370.

This reminded me of a chrysanthemum flower.

Novotel Platinum Bangkok

Spent a few days in Bangkok with my sister. View of Ratchadamri, Bangkok from Novotel Platinum's 9th floor. It was a warm afternoon and we were enjoying the view just before an aromatherapy massage.

Red Lanterns

These lamp shades were grouped in the centre of a restaurant ceiling. With the side wall lined with mirrors, it's reflection made the narrow restaurant seem more spacious.

This reminded me of the beauty parlour my mom would visit when my sister and I were kids. The two side walls were mirrors and you could see your reflection recede into infinity.

Snowflake 4

I used Daruma Lace Size 30 for this last snowflake from Barbara's book. Simple but effective. Another piece for a coaster.

Tuesday 7 July 2015

Snowflake 10

I am still not a fan of this green shade. In this photo it does not look that bad. Love the pattern but the three rings seem a little wonky even after blocking.

It is a small motif measuring 2 inches across tatted in size 40 thread - Lizbeth Col. 625 Plum and 681 Pistachio Green Light.

Saturday 4 July 2015

TF #39

The inner rings of the first and second rounds are wrong. I misread the pattern. It does not look right . . . . right?

A pattern from the book 'Tatted Fashion' by Teiko Fujito on page 43. Done in Lizbeth Size 40 in Latte Foam (Col. 168), Honey Drizzle (Col. 180) and Fudge Dark (Col. 697).

Thursday 2 July 2015

Snowflake 14

Two inches across and fun to tat. Unusual as the picots in the centre is shared between 3 rings. Tatted in Altin Basak Size 50 Col. 3001. Pattern also from Barbara Foster's book.
