Ladybird

Inga Madsen Tatted Animals pattern No 8.
Tatted in Size 40 threads Coats Shade 700 and Milford black. I need to learn ball thread joins.

  1. How big did this turn out to be? I've considered tatting it but haven't. Very nice work! and yeah, the joins show but in Nature, little blips of color all over are not unusual. :-)

    It's about 3 by 4 inches. I haven't been doing onion rings the correct way either.

  3. Wow, a 3 inch ladybug-- that must be the terror of aphids everywhere!

    I'm not sure, but it sounds like ball thread joins might be the same as slope and roll joins. Deb Arnold has instructions for both slope and roll and Catherine wheel joins at http://www.ds9designs.com/patterns_free.shtml; scroll all the way to the bottom to find the links.

  6. A very nice ladybird! If You use it as appliqué on a bag or purse or something else, You could fix it at the red spots with black thread. Perhaps the red dots would become more invisible. But even with the additional red spots it is beautiful.
