Wrong, Wrong, Wrong



Yes, it is turquoise but it looks rather dark at the moment and . . . . . . it is all wrong. I did not realise it until after the 3rd repeat. Is it too late to unpick or should I just cut it off and start again? Or should I just leave it and continue? What do you think I will do?

    I think I would cut it off and start again, if you are not happy with it that's the way to go

    I think you will cut it off and start over. You did not join ring 6 to ring 1 and that will cause your flowers to be too loose. I made this mistake on two flowers of the 2014 Renulek doily, but that was only 2 out of 25 repeats. Your colors are beautiful, by the way.

    If you're not happy with how it looks at this point it seems doubtful that you will like it better later on...it all depends on how adventurous you feel! :)
    personally, I would cut it off and go back to the yellows and darker blue on this round.

    As I'm not tatting along with this I had to compare to someone else's piece. Now I think I see that you didn't join the rings together. With a needle and thread and patience you could do a little surgery that no-one would notice later. Or you could do the rest of them the same way you did the first three :-)

    Thank you all for your encouraging comments. I contemplated all 3 options and decided that it was worth my time unpicking. It took a whole day's tatting time to unpick. I stuck to the turquoise as I was convinced it would work in the long run. Sometimes a colour can look wrong now but right when its done. I hope so.

    I'm a little late to comment, and I see that you've already made your decision. If I hadn't been so late in checking, I would have said...

    If it were hand-dyed thread, or if I had a limited amount, I would unpick. Otherwise... snip!
