Under the African Sky Doily WIP1
It looks fine here but I am not happy with it. I think more practice tatting these interlocking rings is required.
On the left is tatted in Lizbeth 20 Gold. The colour looks fine on the ball but when tatted there is a dingy tinge. It isn't bright as gold should be. Not my favourite.
On the right is Lizbeth 20 Falling Leaves. This could be the colour of the sun, couldn't it?

I love the one on the right. I haven't finished even one interlocking rings yet . I hope mine turns out like the one on the left . The rings don't look stuck together in the middle. How did you get them that way? I love the color also. You know, I was having the same problem with my bright yellow thread. I know my hands were very clean when I wound it onto the shuttle and before I started tatting but it didn't look dingy it looks dirty. And it's happened with other thread as well. It has frustrated me to the point that I have thrown pieces away and I have stopped tatting for days. When I soak it in Dawn ultra dish soap and hot water it gets clean.
ReplyDeleteHi Denise, I think blocking will help. The interlocking rings need practice. I'm practising.
DeleteThanks for the tip. I think I will use a different yellow thread for the sun.
They both look very well!! :) The interlocking rings is a challenge!! :)
ReplyDeleteBoth sets look fine to me, but the set on the right is just about perfect! I love the color! You're off to a great start!
ReplyDeleteThe interlocking rings are getting me too!! I keep undoing them and trying again!! Love the red one!! Setting Sun colours!!
ReplyDeleteI love the colours on the right one too. I think my second one looks a little better. Stay tuned!
