This pattern is called Milena and it is from Iris Niebach's book 'Tatted Doilies' on pg 25. I used the Milford Mercer size 40 thread in lilac. It's tatted using 2 shuttles in one round. This is the first Iris Niebach's pattern I have tatted. I have not done such a doily before but the pattern was easy enough to follow. I like her doily patterns and will try to tat more from this book. If I estimated correctly, it took about 62 metres of thread. Filled each of my Sew Mate shuttles 3 times but did not use up threads from the 3rd filling.
Your stitching is beautiful! The pattern is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised it took over two fillings of a Sew Mate shuttle!
The colour is very appealing as well. Lovely work.

Wow, I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteIris's patterns are all so very nice and yours looks great. I've been tatting the earring pattern she shared last month. It,too, is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your Milena doily. Karen in OR
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I don't remember this one. I'll have to pull my book off the shelf and check it out.
ReplyDeleteLove your doily and the colour as well!
ReplyDeleteI love the way the scallops look like fans. I'm thinking in black this would look like wrought iron!
ReplyDeleteThe scallops remind me of tree canopies. Do try this pattern when you get a chance!!
ReplyDeleteThis doily is so incredibly pretty in lilac! To date I have not been brave enough to attempt one of her doilies. Your success is a great encouragement -- I have already retrieved my copy of her book from my bookshelf to look up the pattern.
ReplyDeleteIt has such graceful spaces and curves. Thanks for sharing it!
I haven't made this one yet, thanks for a guide to the quantity of thread.Very dainty.
ReplyDeleteHi Isdihara,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you have decided to try this pattern. It looks more difficult than it is. Using these threads, blocking helped a lot. It did not look like this before blocking.
