If you love tatted lace, jewellery, plants and anything handcrafted, come back often. I will regularly post items that are made by me, plants that I grow and interesting things that I photograph.

Package from Yuliya
This package is from Yuliya in Russia. We did a thread exchange. The first package got lost in the mail but Yuliya so kindly sent a second package. This time I nearly did not receive it, but all turned out well. I collected it from the post office on Saturday.
You can see the different threads which are from Russia and Turkey. Now I get to try them out. There is one labelled Camellia that is glossy white with a silver metallic thread which runs throught it. In some, she also included the thread label. Yuliya is so thoughtful.

Also, look at this purple motif which she tatted too. It is lovely.
Thank you so much Yuliya.

Thank you, Judy!
This is my thank you note to Judy for being so kind to send me all these goodies.
This was what I was expecting. Judy and I agreed to do an exchange.
I saw Judy's cupcake pincushions on her blog and she so kindly agreed to make me one.
This cupcake is so pretty in purple and the little sprinkles just sparkles. I just love it!
This little bluebird created by Judy was also in the box. It is so adorable.
Judy explained that a little bluebird had been visiting her bird feeder and it was quite rare to see a bluebird.
In the same little box, she also added lovely beads for me to include in my tatting. All these for some tatting which Judy requested for. I was touched.
What I did not know was that Judy sent another envelope which arrived the very next day containing these:
Can you believe all these lovely items.
Lizbeth threads, a handcrafted card, an Anne of Green Gables card and stationery.

Shuttle for Exchange - Bonnie's Pearl
This shuttle is blinged specially for Bonnie. Doesn't it look like mother of pearl? Bonnie, please send me your mailing address. Sorry it took some time. After I took this photo, I decided to use a water-base varnish on it. I applied 2 coats, drying in between and I think it turned out quite well. I hope you like it Bonnie. I will have more shuttles for exchange next week.

Celtic Brooch
This is Rosemarie Peel's Celtic Brooch from her book "Tatting for Pleasure". A stick is needed to make it a brooch / scarf clip / hair clip. Because of its size (1.5 x 1.25 inches), I am thinking of a food pick either made of bone or shell or wood or plastic. Would it work?

Nasi Lemak
This is one of my favourite local dishes. You normally have it for breakfast. This was brunch in Malaysia when I was visiting mom in June. I love this and must have it whenever I'm home. Although you can find it here in Singapore, it is slightly different.
It is rice cooked in coconut milk and pandan leaves served with chilli, fried peanuts and ikan bilis (small anchovies), hard boiled egg or fried egg, slices of cucumber and a selection of seafood (cuttlefish cooked in chilli or deep fried fish), meat (beef or chicken rendang or deep fried chicken). This is normally served on a banana leaf or wrapped in banana leaves if it is for takeaway.
We ate at a road side stall. The first photo shows the basic plate and you then add on to that. On that day, we had the fried fish (mackerel?) and fried chicken. Usually my favourite is the basic plate with beef rendang. According to mom, this particular stall is famous for its fried chicken. We had to try it before heading back to Singapore. It was good! Here is Wikipedia's version of nasi lemak.

Tatting for Tatted Shuttles
I sent these off to Erin Hinton of The Shuttle Shop on Monday. They will be embedded in Epoxy to make the tatted shuttles. If you would like one for yourself, you can get the details here.
I used thread size 40 and Anne Bruvold's shuttle pattern. The threads used here is Lizbeth #122 / Carribean and Yarnplayer's Midnight Oil.
