Pg 52 Japanese Doily WIP4
Finished two more rounds and tatting the last round now. I had to improvise as I do not have enough thread to do all 18 motifs in one colour. This first of 18 is not looking good. Somehow the dusty pink is not the right shade. So I am going to do another with the same 3 previous colours and hope that there is enough thread left to complete it.

Looking lovely in the sheds of pink, hope you can stretch the thread out, it would be a shame to run out now.

Great pattern. I am curious about how you will colour the outer motifs... Challenging!
ReplyDeleteYou might try white or even ecru to help 'stretch' the colors you have. White on the outer round of the motif, then whatever of the original 3 colors you want on the inside of the motif. I hope it helps. ;-)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I do not have those colours in Flora and I like to use the same thread for each project. I decided to use the same three colours. See the next post. Thank you for your suggestion.
DeleteIt's so beautiful!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks fine from here, but maybe it's different in person.
ReplyDeleteWould it work to come up with two different color schemes for the motifs and alternate them? That might help your thread last longer.
Thanks Miranda. Originally, I thought of alternating the 3 colours, each motif one colour but decided against it as I have different amounts of thread left for each colour, some more than others.
DeleteI think your improvising looks good and will work. Looks like another monster doily!
