One Snowball (MK#31)

One Snowball could become 7 or more. This one was on the back cover of 'Tatting Patterns' by Mary Konior (pattern on pg 57). I found it quite difficult to get all the 'onion rings' looking similar but when they are joined up, they look so pretty on the book cover. I am determined to tat more. I will probably do this first before I endeavour to continue with Spinning Wheels or Pear & Apple.

  1. For me, mine always look much better if I tat chains rather than rings after the 1st ring and this one has enough layers that you could do that and still end up going in the right direction. If you tat front-side/back-side, it will complicate things a bit. I don't so it's not an issue. Might be worth trying. I just think it's easier to snug up a chain to the right size than a ring.

  2. Dear Gina,
Thanks so much for that tip. My attempts to make all my chains about the same length has not been very successful either but I will try it out.

  3. I like the layers to the look, meaning the center has those picots pointing in, then you have a ring of modified heart shapes, and finally the spiky snowballs. All in all, a very interesting pattern.
