The Capitol theatre has opened after some refurbishment. It has been incorporated with the new building on the left. Many cafes, restaurants and shops to entice you in but the kids are more interested in the water feature. On a humid evening, the water is much welcomed.
If you love tatted lace, jewellery, plants and anything handcrafted, come back often. I will regularly post items that are made by me, plants that I grow and interesting things that I photograph.

Bak Kut Teh
This is a popular dish here. My earliest memory of it was when grandpa would take my sister and I with him for breakfast. He would order the pork rib soup (cooked with a variety of Chinese herbs, garlic and peppercorns) and the eu char kueh (Chinese crullers).
In addition to that, I ordered a bowl of rice, mui chai (preserved vegetables) and tau kee (soya bean strips). We shared this as it is too much for one person.

TF #1
It looks a little different from the photo in the book The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito. This is the first pattern in the book on page 3. This could be because my thread gaps were a little longer than in the book. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 in Col. 700 English Rose Medium and Col. 675 Fern Green Medium.

Hedges
These two plants made a great combination : in terms of colours and leaf shape. It is a hedge by the car park lot at one of our makan haunts. That's where we would sometimes have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Where we buy our durians, do laundry and visit Sheng Shiong supermarket for groceries. Wanton noodles, fish soup and fried oyster at this place are quite good.

Houses on Emerald Hill
A quiet Saturday morning. It was peaceful at this residential area just off Orchard Road. Conserved Straits Chinese styled houses lined with frangipani trees.

Mehndi
At a recent fair, there was a lady selling handmade jewellery and henna tattoos. She was tending the stall all by herself and I was amazed at how she multi-tasked. She could carry a conversation with one customer, sold earrings to another while she designed this on my hand.

TF #38
The pattern is one from The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito on page 37. I used Lizbeth Size 20 in Col. 152 Christmas Green Mix and Col. 670 Victorian Red. I did not enjoy tatting this but it looks pretty decent. A Christmas coaster in the works? Thank you for your comments in the earlier post.

TF #31
This pattern is from the book Tatted Fashion by Teiko Fujito. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 threads in Col. 700 English Rose Medium and Col. 697 Fudge Dark. A perfect size for a coaster. Someone mentioned to me recently that it is too pretty to put a mug or glass on it. Do you think so?

Kolo Mee
I do not remember having this when we stayed in Kuching, Sarawak but these days, this is quite a popular dish in Singapore. Dry noodles with minced meat and black soya sauce char siu (bbq pork) topped with a lettuce leaf, fried shallots and spring onions. This was breakfast on a Sunday morning.

Penang Street Cafe
We found this great little cafe at Funan Digital Life Mall. We had the Spicy chicken rice set and the Nasi Kandar set. It was quite good. Sometimes I just miss Malaysian food.

Easy Butterfly
This is a pattern in Rozella Linden's book titled 'Tatted Hair Pin Lace Butterflies'. I used Lizbeth Size 20 threads in Col. 132 Tropical Punch and Col. 670 Victorian Red. This is the easiest pattern in the book hence the title above. The intermediate pattern is next but it looks similar to this butterfly. I think I will tat a motif from Teiko Fujito next.

New Bed for Tsuru
New shoes for someone, new bed for Tsuru. The shoe box was too small for her but she insisted on squeezing it in and she did, all by herself.

Not GM rice, just dyed with blue flower petals. Served with stir fried minced pork with basil, fried egg and cucumber. This was served at a Thai restaurant at Ion Orchard in Singapore. Lunch and great conversations with girlfriends.

"I feel pretty, Oh so pretty,
I feel pretty and witty and gay . . ."
"No, I don't!"
"Only she thinks so!!"

Rose - Red & White
This time I alternated red and gold glass drops in this one. Red stands out. I did not have enough of the white glass beads so the second round was done with red beads.

Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk Pasta
It tastes so much better than it looks. Inspired me to try making this at home. The salted egg yolk made it very good. A nice change from cheese on your pasta. I hope they make it a permanent item on their menu.

Rose - Black & Grey
The same Rose pattern by Ginny Weathers but tatted in black with grey beads and white glass drops. I like the contrast between the black thread and grey beads.

Copycat
I received this from a friend. The moment I saw it, I thought of how Tsuru would pose this position whenever she feels hot.
The very next day she did her pose. I just had to show you.
Now isn't this more like it?
