Under An African Sky Doily Challenge Update 2
These are bright colours. Will be joining the trees now. Check out their progress on their blogs: Fox Denise Ninetta Kristen Pigmini
You're making great progress, and since you have tatted most (if not all) the 'trees' already, Round 7 should go fairly 'quickly' as well ! I also love the way Jane allows the Round 5 rings/chains to easily be 'woven' into Round 4
I have been having problems with my tablet, and my comment about Round 2 on your prior post might not have gone through. It was interesting to me to see that the thrown-off rings are done on the 'non-flipped' portion of two of the three split rings. I had to research how that was done, and Karen Cabrera's video came to the rescue! And only the one split ring (on the 'flipped stitches' side) is attached to Round 1 (with a lark's head join). Although I'm not doing the challenge right now, I appreciate learning about these techniques!
And speaking of thrown-off rings (which I had previously only done from chains), I was pleased to find Jane Eborall's excellent tutorial drawings showing how to do thrown-off rings from regular rings. I do the interlocking rings as regular tatted rings, so I was glad to see that it is possible to throw a ring off a ring, although it's a whole new technique to me. I've been practicing those, and it is pretty amazing how it works! I never would have come up with it on my own!
Hi Kathy, I got your earlier comment. Not your tablet's fault. I was just late in publishing it. Too much time spent on tatting and less on blogging. I'm glad you are practising the different techniques.
Oh this looks fun I like these colors too!, this little project is going to produce some really different looking doilies and it's great to see them all!
I finally got almost finished with round two and realized I missed the third ring, and when I started cutting it off, phewy I cut a picot on the yellow rings. I am starting it all over again but I have to make a bunch of snowflakes first for my granddaughters costume. She's Elsa as a bride. But as soon as I am finished with her costume and Keiras costume (cat woman) I plan on working on it. I will post the girls and grandson on my blog. I'm making most of the costumes for both girls.
Hi Denise, I totally understand as I have done that many times- snipped open a picot. Enjoy your time with your grandkids. My niece and nephews are also crazy about the characters in Frozen. Great idea to have tatted snowflakes, its going to be very pretty indeed.
Bright colourful and beautiful
