Jane Mc Lellan of Janemactats has a beautiful doily pattern called "Under An African Sky". Fox and I are planning to tat it together. Feel free to join us. There is no deadline to complete it but we will set a date sometime in September to start. You can tat and blog about your progress at your own time. Just link to Jane's blog and you can find her pattern links on the right.
It will be fun so get ready to tat.
I will join in. I have been eyeing this doiley for awhile. 2 of the techniques will be new to me, the interlocking rings and blocking. I have studied them for awhile now and I'm ready to practice. I will practice block until we begin the tat a long.
ReplyDeleteHi Denise,
DeleteSo glad you are joining us. You have studied the pattern well. Jane has kindly offered to help if we get into any difficulties. We can
motivate each other and itvwill be fun to see the different colour schemes. We will not be starting until mid or end September so we have time to practise.
Under an African Sky is a lovely doily and IMO for experienced/intermediate/expert tatters, so I'll have to set aside this challenge for a year or two. Can't wait to see your progress though.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bernice
Hi Bernice,
DeleteIf you change your mind, please join us. It may be easier if you have company tatting.
I am going on holiday to Greece and already have several items to finish so I will pass on this one. Perhaps next time.
ReplyDeleteMargaret
Hi Margaret,
ReplyDeleteI know you will be enjoying yourself in Greece. We hope you will join us next time too!
Thank you Wendy, we fly on the 4th for two weeks, really look forward to seeing how the mats come along, and will try to join in next time.
DeleteTake care
Margaret
I'm all set with my threads. I just placed an order with Handy Hands for these colors :
ReplyDeleteYellow sun - Liz 20, col705 bright yellow
Blue sky - Liz 20, col 704 sky blue medium
Green trees - Liz 20, col 167 jungle greens
Animals - Liz 20, col 697 fudge dark
Red earth - Liz 20, col 673 Terra Cotta
Hopefully all of my order will be here by the time we start. Handy Hands is usually very fast.
You are fast, Denise. I am wondering which size and colour threads to use. Maybe variegated threads for the sun and sky. I do have more choice of colours in Size 40.
ReplyDeleteI'm joining in too.... I've just finished the '25 motifs' challenge so why not!! I shall have to go through my threads to decide what colours to use tho!!
ReplyDeleteThat's great. I wonder if anyone is going to use 'interesting unconventional' colours.
DeleteMy threads are shipped and should be here tomorrow . Handy Hands is really fast !
ReplyDeleteHave you started? Sorry for the long wait. Eager to see your progress on your blog.
DeleteI'm in!...I THINK I have all the colors I need, but I may have to make an emergency HH therad order...oh darn ;)
ReplyDeleteWelcome Kristen. Threads will arrive soon, I'm sure.
DeleteWhat a lovely challenge!
ReplyDeleteI did this doily as a 6-mth old Tatter and it was a wonderful experience because I googled all
The different techniques and learnt so much more than if I hadn't done this.
I do recommend it for a novice Tatter Who is willing to learn and try new things and I guarantee it will open your world of tatting.
Thank you AT for your comment. Beginners who love a challenge to learn new techniques, heed AT's words.
