Chinese Seals
These seals are really beautiful. The carvings on the stone are intricate and you can see the details when it is imprinted with ink. The first seal is carved on all sides. In the rest, all four sides of the stones are carved in addition to the bottom surface which is the actual signature. My favourite is the last one with the lotus.
I agree these seals are beautiful, and the detailed work that goes into them, someone must have taken hours to make them. Thank you for showing them Margaret
When i took sumie lessons, i always wanted to reach the stage where they awarded you a seal. It was a big honour as your work had to go to Japan to be assessed by a council of artists. I was never good enough, nor did I paint for long enough to qualify. * sigh* I loved the seals almost as much as the paintings! Fox : )
You are right. These seals are really beautiful. The prints are like pictures telling little stories.
