Corner Spray MK #51

This is a Mary Konior pattern called Corner Spray from her book 'Tatting in Lace' on page 106. It reminded me of those photo corners in old albums. This is tatted in Size 40 Venus threads. This is motif # 51 of my personal tatting challenge of patterns from Mary Konior. The crazy quilt patch is my first but unfinished CQ. Pat Winter gifted me the supplies to encourage me to start CQ. I must say I find it difficult to start and to finish. But I can show you how the tatted corner spray could be used in a CQ. And I am a avid fan of Pat's CQ.

  1. I've seen that motif several times and considered tatting it but hadn't yet. I really like that you made it in two colors. Gives it an entirely different feel. Very nice!

  2. Those are so pretty. They also remind me of those bookmarks that fit on the corners of the pages rather than inside the book itself.

  5. I love the corner spray pattern - and it's a great choice for a crazy quilt. I have considered making a CQ also, but just haven't gotten the inspiration to get started. Maybe it would be best to start with a CQ pillow?

  6. What did you think of working with the Venus thread? - I have so much of it but cannot tat with it because it twists too much - so I am interested in your experience of it.

  7. Thank you for all your comments. The Size 40 Venus thread is rather soft and it splits when you unpick stitches but it is very inexpensive and it has a variety of shades. I do prefer it to Perle Cotton 8. When Maureen mentioned that it twists too much, I remembered that sometimes, I have problems closing rings. To solve this I undo a few stitches and open the ring up and close it again. It usually works. I have not tried the Venus Size 70 though.
