Myra Piper's pattern No. 38 tatted in 2 rounds. I used size 40 white threads and needed about 2m on the shuttle for round 1 and 5m for round 2. I always note down in the pattern book how much shuttle thread I need in case I want to tat the pattern again. I love this square motif.

ReplyDeleteVery nice! just enough picots to be pretty but not tedious. My mom is looking for a pattern to tat multiple times for her christmas cards. This might be the one.

I love this pattern too. I've tatted it a few times and framed it as a small gift. Maybe I should tat one in white for our next dye-ing session.

ReplyDeletepretty and usual! oh believe me, i do that too - noting the amount of thread on each shuttle for patterns i'd attempted. i really hate to waste thread or have bits left on the shuttle. ;p

ReplyDeleteI estimate the amount of thread I would need by studying the pattern. Load the shuttle with a specific amount and estimate what is left on the shuttle after finishing the motif. I always note down what I have used on the pattern in case I want to tat the pattern again. My books are littered with post its. I hope I did not misunderstand your question.
