Water Lily
Pattern is called water lily by Lyn Morton in her book Tatting Patterns on page 18. Thread is Peace Size 30 by Yarnplayer. I love the colours used in the book and wanted a thread colour which was just as pretty. I believe Peace fits the bill. I noticed in Lyn's book, all the picots tatted were small in size and it suited the patterns. I must remember to make the picots smaller.
This is the first timw I have visited your blog and this pattern is beautiful and the thread is lovely, may I ask where you buy such beautiful thread. I dont think you need to make the picots smaller I think they are fine as they are. Margaret UK
I don't have this thread but I love it too. Peace - like the Peace Rose which is also those colors.
I always get stuck on picot size. I don't really like the big floppy ones but teeny tiny ones that are little bumps in the road are almost too small. I also forget to make joining picots smaller sometimes unless I tat a piece more than once in a short space of time.
This pattern is really nice. I've only tatted a small portion of the designs from this book.
Picots are entirely relative. I like by picots all the same size and yours in the picture are about what I do. Some people make their picots very small. I encountered that last year. The thread really suits this pattern. lovely.
I don't know; I think your picots...are PERFECTION!! I tend to make my picots a little on the larger side, and that's how I like them. You certainly are a lovely tatter! I love your blog...
It looks very nice anyway :) I have tatted nearly all patterns of this book and they are cute. Take care,
ReplyDeleteVery, very pretty - the thread, the pattern and your tatting!
