Sweethearts bookmark (MK#28)
I found that the size of the hearts were not quite uniform probably due to the chain tension. I should be more careful next time and again the picot forming the centre of each heart should be made smaller. This was tatted in Lizbeth thread Size 40 in Carousel. What can I do with the top of the bookmark. It's hanging and looks unfinished.
I like the bookmark! I think, if you did anything with the sides it would take away for the look. The hearts (dimples) are the finish work. Now I know there are tons of wonderful tatters out here that just might have the right solution. But, I like it. *smile*
Me too! I love the look - like a scroll or fancy wrought iron work.... I would leave it or just do a carved chain on top to hold the sides. But, it sure is pretty as is! Fox : )
I like your bookmark, and coming from a newbie in tatting, you were wondering about the top....maybe a chain connecting the top, or a heart between the two top picots? Just a thought. I love the colors too. :) Have a great day! :)
I think you are talking about the top end of the bookmark. I would tat a chain arching upwards between the 2 rows of hearts, same as at the bottom. If you added picots to the chain, it might help fill up the gap and make it look more finished - not just a bare piece of chain. I don't really see a way to repeat the dimpled heart there however. I would probably chain from heart p to heart p but you could also do it from the chain/heart join too.
Oh yes! I was refering to the top of the bookmark, opposite the tassel on the left of the photo. Thank you for your suggestions.I may add a chain with picots, connecting the two picots or a carved chain. A heart would be great but I'm afraid I won't know how. Smiles!!

ReplyDeleteLove the bookmark and the Lizbeth thread does it justice.

I agree with Gina. I think your tatting turned out really well and with smaller picots in the hearts it would be perfect. Lovely job.
ReplyDeleteSo very lovely!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a longer tassel, though.
