Peranakan beaded shoes
I did manage to learn making the beading for the slippers from a class. Of course it had to go to the cobbler. I had one made for my mom and one for myself. The one for my sister is still on the frame unfinished and the humidity and mildew has ruined it. It will have to be re-done, one day! This photo shows my pair of slippers which I have only worn once. I will have to wait to photograph my mom’s.
Hello! It is really a nice pair of shoes. I hope I can learn to make one. How did you start and end off the thread when you sew cluster of beads for shoe edge? Do you need to thread and loop the needle over several past stitch to secure the end tail thread?
These are gorgeous! How much time did they take to make?
ReplyDeleteHow cool that you made those! I would probably never want to wear them for fear of getting them soiled after all that work!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen anything like this. I wish I could see them in person.
ReplyDeleteIt took several months. It is very much like cross stich. A lot of work but it was quite satisfying.
ReplyDeleteIncredible! These are very beautiful,I can't believe they are beaded. WOW!
ReplyDeleteI just took photos of the other pair I made. Look out for that photo.

ReplyDeleteHi Amy, Yes, the thread ends are woven into the stitches behind the work. No knots.
