New Nail Art

It was my choice of colours and design. The nail artist did exactly as I requested but she thought it would have looked even better if the black design was done in white. Yes, I do agree with her but I wanted something in black.

Still, it made me smile!

Oval Doily Completed

I like how it turned out although it seemed forever to tat but it is worth it. The last round is tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 Col. 187 Green Ice.

How does it look in different shades of green?

Lunch at Tekka Market

We had a late breakfast but could not resist a bowl of mutton soup when we were at Tekka Market in Little India.

It must be years since we visited this market. On Sunday, it is bustling with people.

On the second floor, there were many vendors with colourful outfits in preparation for the Deepavalli festival.

There, I bought a simple blouse which was made in India.
I plan to wear it for next Chinese New Year but maybe it will be worn before then.

Round Medallion No. 12

This is not pretty. It did not turn out like the pattern in the book. I am a little disappointed. It looked like an interesting pattern but I must have blocked it all wrong. The outer chains should be more rounded.

Pattern is found in Tatting with Anne Orr on page 16 and 30. Tatted in Lizbeth Twirlz Size 20 Col. 407 Midnight Mist.

Pink Bromeliad Flower

Aechmea fasciata

Pink vase plant or Urn plant.
We were surrounded by these plants in planter boxes in the waiting area at the departure gate.

They were pretty!

Coconut Shell Pot

After having the refreshing coconut jelly, I recycled the shell into a little pot.

Also made the simple macrame pot holder with the dyed jute yarn which I got from Chatuchak market in Bangkok.

Maranta WIP 2 - Unyielding Chains

Thank you to your suggestions for keeping the chains uniform. I was stubborn and refused to measure the chains. This is the result. After tatting, I need to push the stitches back. This is when the chains get uneven. It will have to do.

So far I have used Lizbeth Size 20 in Col. 620 Azalea Medium, 702 Coral Orange Medium and 184 Rainbow Splash. It sure is very colourful.

Singapore F1 2017

This was the qualifying rounds on Saturday night - Vettel,  Verstappen and Ricciardo.

We did not watch the finals but congrats to Hamilton, Ricciardo and Bottas.

This year, we had a great view of the pit and watched Ariana Grande and Chainsmokers in air con comfort on a screen with free flow of food and drinks. We are not F1 fans but attend previous F1s for the concerts. This year, it was a different experience. It was an enjoyable night, thanks to J.

Oval Doily WIP 3

This is what it looks like after Round 7 is completed.
One more round to go.

I have been dragging my feet (shuttles) on the Maranta pattern.

Gift Appreciated

I received this lovely Paul & Joe set from a friend.
She said she thought it was perfect for me.
I love make-up and cats.

It was unfortunate that the powder had shattered when I unwrapped it but it is still very usable.
It came with a fluffy wand to use with the powder.

Paul and Joe is known for its packaging.
But this lipstick is pretty unusual as it is shaped like a cat

Such a delight!
Can you apply without distorting the cat?
Perhaps not, but it is cute while it lasts.

Thank you

Coconut Jelly

Perfect on a hot afternoon.
Refreshing!

It is a young coconut fruit with its coconut water made into a jelly with coconut fruit pieces. After scrapping the rest of the fruit, the shell makes a lovely pot for plants. I will show you when its done.

Lower Seletar Reservoir

I took this photo from the train as we passed Khatib towards Yio Chu Kang station. It has been a while since I took this train to the city. When you are not in a hurry to get somewhere and the train is not too crowded, it is quite a relaxing ride.

Tatting with Fox

I have only tatted this far.
This is a pattern by Maranta that Fox and I agreed to tat together after a long tatting hiatus for me.
You can see her progress here.

Now, I am a little apprehensive as I start the next 2 rounds.
The long chains may be a little difficult to control.

How do you make long chains equal in length?
Measure consistently?

Jade Ring

I love rummaging through the sale baskets for special deals.

These days, I look for jade rings. It was in a small box and you pick what you like, hoping that it will fit one of your fingers.

I found this one in different shades of green and fell in love.

Peach Ixora

I found these growing next to a multi story carpark at one of our breakfast haunts. Lovely sweet colour. Ixoras usually come in red, pink, yellow, white and orange blooms. This was a nice change.

Medallion #19

This is a pattern from Tatting with Anne Orr. I recently got this book from the Book Depository.

It is missing some rings along the chains but I decided to carry on without them because I realized the mistake too late. Tatted in LIzbeth Size 40 Green Ice Col 187. The colours do not show up true in this photo.

I hope you are having a good tatting day.

Sweet Dreams

I need my beauty sleep too.
That is after I wake someone up.
So that she can watch me sleep.

Oval Doily WIP1

I wanted to tat an oval doily. After looking through some pattern books, I settled on a pattern on page 7 in Rita Weiss' Tatting Doilies and Edgings.

I am alternating two Lizbeth Size 40 Kelly Green Medium Col. 712 and Sea Island Citrus Col. 161.

Rounds 1-3 completed. It has been a while since I tatted. A break from tatting is required sometimes. I hope to complete this before I get bored. Maybe I should have started with smaller patterns.

Lace On Nails

Tatted lace?
 Sure looks like it!
It was hand drawn by a talented nail artist.
She was so meticulous.
It made me smile . . . .
for days.

Jade & Pearl Necklace

Although I have not been tatting, I have been keeping my fingers busy stringing and knotting.

Yes, I am back.

Tatting will be slow as I get back to the momentum.
