Thread Sample
This is what was tatted using the thread sample from Fox.
This is a pattern from Jan Stawasz. It was just enough for what I wanted to tat.

New York #2 & #3
How could one stop at one. Here is #2 & #3.
#2 was tatted using the same Altin Basak Thread Size 50 in #359 pink and #302 beige.
New York is from Iris Niebach's Tatting Fantasia 4 book.

Stawasz Doily Set II
I wound my shuttles and was trying to figure out the number of stitches and where it went. I had to look carefully as the numbers can be anywhere on the diagram on page 104 of Jan Stawasz 1st book.
While tatting, I suddenly realized that this pattern is to be tatted in 2 rounds and when I was about to finish this round 1, I also discovered a mistake. I had joined to a wrong picot. If I abandon this, I would have wound all that thread for nothing - 2 shuttles full.
Zen me ban?
(A very common phrase in Chinese and Korean serials)

Peking Duck
A dish originating from Beijing.
The duck is roasted and brought to the table to be carved. Only the skin is removed and put onto an egg crepe.
Add some cucumber sticks and spring onions laced with a sweet sauce. Wrap it up and enjoy.
Delicious.
The rest of the roasted duck is usually brought back to the kitchen and fried with noodles like yee mian / Cantonese egg noodles or mee sua / flour vermicelli.

There are a few craft supplies shop here.

Frankfurt City
Tatted Frankfurt pattern from Iris Niebach again but this time with more Grape Pomegranate. See last week's post for details.
Again I love the colour combination and the pattern is eye catching especially from afar. When blocking, I stand the blocking board against a wall to dry. Where I sit on the sofa I can see it from afar.
I am still not pleased with my tatting as I forgot to join one picot and had to chop off some chains and re-tat. Love the pattern. Thank you Iris for another amazing pattern.

Guess Who?
This was in my mailbox yesterday. A gift from a friend.
Love the thread keeper card.
Tatting with it now.
Here is Tsuru checking it out. She knows not to touch.
'Why is she always pointing that thing at me?'

Berlin
This is Berlin by Iris Niebach in her book Tatting Fantasia 4. I did not want to add all the beads so I left some out. I used Tat-ilicious' HDT Size 20 French Country and Delica beads. The centre was interesting to tat although a little fiddly with all the beads. The beads were added into picots before joining so none had to be strung onto the ball thread. I chose matching Delica beads. How does it look? Should I have used a solid thread?

Chinatown Food Street
We have never eaten at this place. It was recently refurbished with a rain shelter but it is still a pedestrian street with food stalls.
The locals usually eat at the market/hawker centre nearby. Lots of great food there as the hawkers are old timers. I was there with a friend for lunch. It was hot and sweaty but yes, food was good.

Frankfurt
Love the pattern - Iris Niebach in Tatting Fantasia 4
Love the colour combination
Lizbeth Size 40 in Orange Crush and Grape Pomegranate
Do not love the tatting . . . my tatting.
Look at the chains - uneven lengths.
Sigh!

Uncrowded
It rained this morning so it was less crowded at our usual breakfast place. Perhaps people decided to stay in. This stray cat was enjoying the cool morning air. But soon it had to move as people were coming out of the lift and had to stop short to avoid him.
Do you have a caption to accompany the photo below?

New York
This is a pattern by Iris Niebach in her book Tatting Fantasia 4. Iris tatted hers in 3 colours. I went with two but was unsure if it would work. It turned out quite lovely.
Tatted in Altin Basak Size 50 #302 and #367. The centre is tatted in 3 rounds and gives a 3-D effect.

Raisin Walnut Milk Stick
A nice snack to tide you over to meal time. Second time having the milk stick from this bakery. The bread is filled with raisins and walnuts and a sweet creamy buttery filling which makes it delicious. The bakery is a franchise from Hokkaido, Japan. Only one shop in Singapore and its located in Millenia Walk. Try it if you are in that location.

Tokyo #2
You can appreciate how pretty Tokyo is in one colour compared to the earlier one I tatted. This is tatted in Size 50 Altin Basak #324. On the ball the colour looks more periwinkle (with a tinge of purple) but unwound and tatted, it looks more blue.
While tatting this Iris Niebach's pattern for the second time, I realized I made a mistake in the first one as I forgot to anchor the rings in the centre with a lock join. Can you tell the difference?

Happy Vesak to all Buddhists.

Dharmikarama Burmese Temple in Penang.

Tokyo
Not sure if this colourway is suitable for this pattern but here it is. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 20 in Leaf Swirl #144. Tokyo is from Tatting Fantasia 4 by Iris Niebach.

Feeling Old - Part 2
Just remembering some music videos I loved back then.
This is one from INXS.
What was your favourite music video?

Gent
The larger is tatted in Tat-ilicious' HDT Mindanao Gum Size 40 and the smaller is tatted in Lizbeth Size 80 Sea Island Citrus #161.
Another Adelheid Dangela's pattern from her other book Occhi-Patchwork und mehr. This is the pattern on the cover of the book although it looks a little different tatted in one colour thread.

Feeling Old - Part 1
There is one sure way of feeling old and that is to walk around town at a teenagers' hangout. We were at the cinema last week to watch a movie and we felt out of place.
We could not understand it when there were bursts of laughter during the screening of 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'. After 45 minutes, I was wondering when the movie would end? I found out - not for another hour and a half.
AIso realized, we have not gone to the cinema in 5 years since the screening of Avatar. Now I enjoyed that.

Freiburg
This layout of Freiburg reminds me of a turtle. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 80 in Sea Island Citrus #161 and Altin Basak Size 50 in #3001.
This pattern is quite unusual as you can see an inner flower shape and a series of outer trefoil rings. Tatted in one round using two shuttles, this was quick and easy to tat. Another Adelheid Dangela pattern. I think I have tatted all that I wanted for now from this book. I have the other book which I will browse through later.

Steamboat for One
Well we had two steamboats.
It was a light lunch.
Cooking at the table.
Conversations while we wait for the soup to boil.

Herford with Horstmar
You saw Hortsmar in Size 80 earlier. I tatted it in Lizbeth #655 Wedgewood light. Added Herford tatted in #106 Spring Fling. Both patterns by Adelheid Dangela from her book Occhi-Patchwork. Lots of negative spaces. In the book another round is added. Perhaps I will do it much later when I have the right colour thread. My Lizbeth thread stash of Size 80 is limited. I need Raspberry pink medium #624 or Wedgewood dark #656.

Barcelona
No, it isn't another tour or tatting.
Just a wonderful collaboration.
I saw it once,
but just recently remembered and found it here again.
Thought I would share it.

Horstmar
This reminded me of a nautical theme - a compass or a rudder. This was so much fun to tat. Two shuttles and tatted in one round in Lizbeth Size 20, 40 & 80.
