Toccata in Purple

Tatted in Flora Size 20 with Swarovski bicone crystals and Delica beads. The chain length can be adjusted as required. I think this is the last Toccata necklace for now. Hope you enjoyed all the five different colours.

The Toccata pattern is by Marilee Rockley and can be found in this book.

Berries

I had some Haagen Daz strawberry ice cream with this. I was inspired by Margaret's post here. Mine is a poor example though.

Driburg

Another one from Adelheid Dangela's Occhi Patchwork book. Tatted in Size 20, 40 and 80. I think this looks best in Size 20 threads. Some patterns just do. I like how the centre rings overlap each other, making it a little 3D.

I love how this looks.
Does it remind you of a lotus flower?

Patchwork Tatting Project 2014 (WIP 6)

Okay, I am going to stop here for now.
This last row was a little tedious.
If I leave it, it could make a nice tree.
Or I could continue . . . . .
but not now.

I have not heard from Pigmini regarding her win of the Toccata necklace. If I do not hear from her by tomorrow, I will pick a new winner.

Sun Going Down On Me

Was it an Elton John song with those lyrics?
Well, this is what it looks like from my window.
Sunset these days are around 19:09

Coesfeld

Two shuttles and SCMRs make this Adelheid Dangela's pattern from her book Occhi Patchwork.

There are a few lovely designs in this book and this one was what I was drawn to. Tatted in size 40 Lizbeth #647 Purple Iris Dark and #175 Scottish Thistle.

A perfect after-lunch tea which I shared with a friend.

Then an additional red velvet cupcake.

1000 Oceans

I first saw it on MTV many, many years ago
Loved it.
The video was just captivating.
Still is.
Haunting and sad.

Unplugged version
Tell me what you think of it.

Chive Dumpling

A friend and I shared some dim sum for lunch. We were amazed with these dumplings as the skin is so thin that you could see its filling.

Lilac Edging Sewn

No, it was not a hanky edging. I wanted to edge the rim of the lunch bag but the handle was in the way so it was sewn next to the draw strings instead.

Flowering Trees

Golden Shower Tree - Cassia fistula

Trumpet Tree - Tabebuia rosea
When the rain arrived after a long dry period, the trees burst into blooms.

Toccata in Mocha Brown

Third time a charm. I think I am most pleased with this one. Tatted in Lizbeth Size 20 #691 Mocha Brown Medium with a Swarovski teardrop pendant in topaz, Miyuki Delica beads (DB122) and Swarovski crystal pearls (4mm, gold).

Shall we have a giveaway. If you would like a chance to win this necklace, just leave a comment by 18 April 2014 which is also Good Friday. I will use the random number generator to pick a winner.

Stawasz Basket Filled

The basket is filled with Sally Kerson's Thistles. I left the long picots uncut here as I may want to use it to sew onto a backing fabric later. Again I used leftover threads so you may notice that the stem and leaf colours vary. I made some mistakes in the thistles. For details, please check the earlier posts.

I know its sparse and would anyone present a basket of thistles?
I am not sure.

Plants On A Building

New shopping malls in the west of the island. El fresco cafes on the ground floor where you can sit and enjoy a drink or a meal among greenery and water features.

Shou Card

Another handmade card which I bought recently. Four intricately cut 'shou' characters pop up when you open the card and folds flat.
Isn't it amazing?

Stawasz Basket

Have not been tatting as much these days. My tatting muse has gone on a holiday. I am sure she will be back soon maybe in a few weeks time.

I used left over thread for the basket so it is 3 different shades of Size 40 threads. It was larger than what I anticipated but I think it will work. Remember this? Thank you for your comments and suggestions.

Well I got the handle done. Now to fill.

Coffee Swiss Roll

Maybe coffee and strawberries do not really go together but it was what I had in the fridge. So it was vanilla ice cream, fresh strawberries and a coffee flavoured swiss roll. Fresh strawberries sold here are seldom sweet but doesn't it look pretty?

Toccata in Black

Tatted in Milford Size 20 in black with Miyuki Delica beads DB105, Swarovski round crystals (4mm in rose) and a ruby gem briolette. This time I did the floating rings as designed by Marilee. Also added two extra Delica beads by accident. Was not paying attention again. How do you like this one compared to the first one?

Patchwork Tatting Project 2014 (WIP 5)

The new row starts with Bremen tatted in Lizbeth Size 40 (#172) Pink Marble. Not sure how it will continue. Perhaps I will stop here and come back to it later. I am also wondering if I will run out of thread from each ball. Plans may need to change again.

Thank you all for your lovely comments. It is encouraging especially in a large project like this.

Hopefully after this, I will not find it too difficult or tedious to tat a large doily, table runner or even a blouse from Jan Stawasz's book.

Jan Stawasz Book 1

With Grace's help, I managed to get this book and collected it from the post office last month. Thank you Grace.

After browsing through, I started this:

If you have the book, you probably can guess which pattern this is. I am only tatting part of the pattern as I want to combine it with something else. I hope it will work out because the scale might be off. We will see.

Both Sides of the Klong

It was muddy green yet inviting at 36 degrees C in the afternoon. Two sides of the Saen Saep Klong where air conditioned buildings tempted you to shop.

Thistle

Sally created a great thistle pattern
She tatted some recently here and
it reminded me that I wanted to tat one.

Blocked the thistle before cutting the long picots.

Thank you Sally.

Happy International Tatting Day!
