As promised, photos to show you mom's tree laden with 50 snowflakes which I tatted throughout 2011. I actually added 3 more, from my tatted motifs so there are about 53 snowflakes on this 4 ft tree. And I thought 50 were too many. Part of the tree which was facing the wall had no snowflakes.
What did she say about the snowflakes? They are all different. Hmmm. . . . . some are pretty. Where did you find 50 different patterns?
Some of the bigger snowflakes started to fold as I did not stiffen them. Sorry the photos are not great as my rechargeable battery ran out even before I started using the camera and I did not bring the charger with me. I had to use my mobile phone camera.

I think it's beautiful! Kudos to you for sticking with that project all year long. What will you do for 2012?
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year :)

That looks lovely! And what a goal...I'm tempted to see if I can do 25 snowflakes in 2012 now. I'm newer to tatting & that could be a fun motivation for me... Your goal was doable if one was done per week. I'm not that good yet so I think I might try it, but half the total amount.
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful! ) And great idea!
ReplyDeleteOh WOW, what absolutely fantastic beautiful Christmas Tree. All those tatted snowflakes are gorgeous. Love them all. Hugs Judy
ReplyDeleteThat tree is so beautiful! I'd love to see a video of you tatting... I bet your fingers go a mile a minute!
ReplyDeleteMom's never have quite the reaction we are expecting, do they? ;-)
You did a beautiful job tatting the 53 snowflakes for your Mom's tree! What an accomplishment - you have to feel very good about meeting your goal. Many thanks for showing us the tree. I'm sure she is so very proud of you and your tatting.
ReplyDeleteThe tree looks loaded from this view! What a lovely accomplishment and gift for your mom!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the prettiest trees I have ever seen that is decorated with tatted snowflakes. Wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteFox : )
wow!! so nice!! :)
ReplyDeleteAll those wonderful snowflakes make that tree so inspiring!! What a fabulous gift!! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful. So many snowflakes!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! That is an amazing accomplishment to have made all those snowflakes, I'm in awe!
ReplyDeleteThis is another instance where I am speechless! Just GORGEOUS! What totally blows me away is that you did all of this in the past year, in addition to making so many other items. And even though you say the 'hidden side' isn't full, it certainly wouldn't take you long to fill it in! It's a fabulous achievement!!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the wonderful comments. I think some snowflakes could have gone to the back if needed. Yes, it is just one snowflake a week, come to think of it but I did more in some months than in others. It isn't so difficult if you start early in the year, say like January 2012?
ReplyDeleteWhat's next for me in 2012. I really do not know but it will be a challenge. Tatting patterns from Ruth or maybe Helma? Larger projects? Mom did tell me that if I joined all the snowflakes up, it could be a table runner. That is a thought. A table runner. Anyone up for a challenge and join me in tatting a table runner??
pretty, pretty, pretty. you did a wonderful job.
ReplyDeletehave a Happy New Year 2012!
It's beautiful. I admire your perseverance. A table runner, huh? I'm sticking to small projects again this year while I try to get a number of my designs into diagrams. Enjoy!
