Squirrel
Inga Madsen Tatted Animals pattern No 11. I wanted my squirrel to look more furry than the one in the book so I made the tail picots longer. I had lots of 'fun' blocking it. Tatted in DMC Perle Cotton 8 in Col. 107 (Variegated Carnation) and Col. 841 (Light Beige Brown).
Apart from having fun blocking it, Your squirrel turned out very funny.

Hi Petra, Thank you for visiting. I'm glad it made you smile.
ReplyDeleteEach of these animals is so adorable!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for the tail! Really works.
ReplyDeleteFox : ))
I love the picots. I have made this pattern, but I didn't think of doing that. This is one of my favorite books.
ReplyDeleteThat is one furry squirrel. Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteCute! Those long picots really are perfect. Did you use a picot guage? Oh, I bet they were "fun" to block!
ReplyDeleteThe flower made me think of "Flower" from the Disney movie BAMBI. I wonder whether the pattern would make a good skunk if you tat in black except for the chains from the nose to the base of the tail (which would be white, of course). I like the longer picots on your squirrel. Great job.
ReplyDeleteI love squirrels and yours is just so cute!
ReplyDeleteI sure have enjoyed looking at the animals you have done. So I got out my copy of that book have started working on them so far I have
ReplyDeletedone the the snail and the cat and I have the giraffe started. And i did the Alligator from Dianna Stevens bookmark book twice and they both ran away.
I love your squirrel!!! I have 2 little stuffed animal squirrels, but yours is much cuter! I love the long picots to make the tail fluffy like a real squirrel! :)
ReplyDeleteYour squirrel is really cute! Now I haven't been much into tatted critters but I just got all of Martha Ess's tatter critters on the block books and her Holidays on the block books so I guess I have all of Martha Ess's books so far! LOL! Anyway... my point is that I am starting to like tatted critters to a point LOL! Yours are darling! Where can I find Inga Madsen's book? Is it at Handy Hands Tatting? Do you know by any chance? :)
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you all loved the squirrel. I have to say that it was my least favourite pattern of the book so I had to make it special.
ReplyDeleteEliz, I love your idea. I may tat it again in black & white.
TattingChic, I got my book from The Book Depository with free shipping.
